a. Just saw the big pipe bar over the entrances at Soriana
plaza in La Paz....bad thing. Apparently placed to stop big
trucks from entering
the complex, I saw a VW bus w/ surfboard box on it's roof
scraping the pipe to leave the center. It would be a
disasterous event if a
full-size camper tried to pass through there, it would be
cut in half. Be forewarned, everyone.
ROAD
REPORTS
a. Joe and I left LB returning to California on 3/14 and
spent the night at the El Morrow in Santa Rosalia. Found
that the rooms were in need of repair. We didn’t feel
comfortable to use the shower. The rooms need a good
cleaning and so does the restaurant. Great location.
Stayed at Les Jardines in San Quintin on 3/15. This was our
first visit. Gardens are beautiful, room was large and
spotless. Rate was 550 pesos total. The food at the
restaurant next door was delicious. We will make time to
explore and enjoy the gardens at this lovely hotel.
Only 5 military stops to the border, but over 250 Tope!
Crossed at Tijuana at about 12 noon. Got in the slowest
lane! The customs person in our lane did 1 car, while other
inspectors did 4 to 5. Took us about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
No secondary inspection. No request to open camper shell,
no request for paperwork on 2 dogs. We had 4 months worth of
stuff in the truck. I did have a list of all of our
purchases with estimated prices which we showed the customs
agent.
Road conditions were fine. Minor construction around
Toledo. We are back to rain and cold in California. Cheryl
