RECYCLE NEWS: Our next recycle day is Thursday, June 2. As
always, we can use volunteers to come help us separate,
sort, stomp, squash, and load. We had a wonderful crew last
month and filled TWO trucks and trailers to the brim. Good
Job Los Barriles!!
This will be the LAST recycle day until next October 6, so
please bring in your prepared recycles to the East Cape RV
Resort on main street (20th de Noviembre) behind Baja Homes
and Lands/Otra Vez center, between 9:30 and 11:00 am next
Thursday. Also, please make a donation so we can pay our
drivers and gas. With everyone's donations, we almost break
even some months, so this keeps our program going. NO ONE
is making money with recycling in this infant stage in Baja,
so we need your support.

Eastcapers Newspaper Advertising
Thanks to most of our advertisers who
dropped-off their payment and ad changes to Hector at Wolfe
Management by the due date. There are still a couple of
advertisers who have not yet done so. If you still want to
place an ad in the June issue, this Friday is the final day.
The reason we are asking everyone to
drop-off their payment is because it has been taking an
average of 3-4 visits per advertiser to get the payment and
any ad changes. Given the current economic climate, we are
trying to keep the advertising costs as low as possible. All
of these visits is costing money and time and talking away
from one of the reason the newspaper is printed in the first
place. That is to provide support to the children’s art
programs. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation
and thank you for helping the Asociación de Artes bring the
arts to the local children.

FISHING REPORTS
Just a note regarding the smokehouse fish
reports . . . . . . our crew compiles only firsthand
information on a daily basis from the docks at Palmas,
Playa, Verdugos, and Rancho Leonero. Flota Verde is also
included because they use the hotel docks. Our crews do not
count flags as they can be deceiving for many reasons.
First, the crews may not have enough flags and second they
sometimes use one species flag for a different species if
they don't have that particular flag. Also colors can be
deceiving from a distance. And finally, you know how boat
captains memories can get a bit distorted when asked to
reflect upon their day on the water, i.e. how many, how big,
etc. In fact, our studies indicate a direct correlation
between cerveza and the tendency to either forget and/or
exaggerate.
Anyhow, we have a daily form which is
filled out as the charters arrive and the info includes #
boats, anglers, fish counts, species, location landed, and
bait vs. lures. We also take alot of pics. We are not
permitted on the docks at Spa Buena Vista although we can
pick up fish to process from their clients upon request. As
such we do not include those fish counts in our reports.
They catch plenty of fish there too but we just do not
compile any hotel info that is not firsthand. I should
mention that we do have a great working relationship with
Hotel Spa Buena Vista and we do promote them on our website
and we are permitted to promote our smoking service on site.
We do compile info from Jen Wren
Sportfishing, Marlintini Sportfishing, Awesome Sportfishing,
and Cuyuyo's Pangas even if we do not encounter those
charters on the docks. Additionally, we appreciate any info
from the "local guys and gals" that fish the waters on a
regular basis. You locals can always feel free to submit any
info or story related to fishin' including pics. We are glad
to post this info on our weekly reports giving full faith
and credit to those providing the info.

a. Angler needed...
I have a fisherman at Awesome Sportfishing who would like to
make a team for fishing on Friday - we could push to
Saturday but Friday's better. He's a rookie, but has
enthusiasm. We've been hitting the tuna - my hands still
smell of the huge loins I was moving around at the
Smokehouse and delivering to Triny's for my client's dinner
tonight. What do you think, want to put some tuna or dorado
on ice? We would like two anglers, could do three. If you'd
like to pick up and fish, please call 14-10231, email
combertheresa@hotmail.com or turn at the Sailfish across
from the Modelorama into the East Cape RV Resort for details
in person.
b. The Sea of Cortez...get ON it! This Saturday we need
four more to join us on an Awesome Coast Cruise & Whale
Watching - the May aquarium is alive out there - constant
with surface movement and the reef fishing while snorkeling
is clear, up close and personal. The Bay of Dreams and the
exceptional experience found in the azure bay is
unparalleled on the Southern Baja. $60 per person plus
lunch, 8 am to 3 pmish. Please call 14-10231, email
combertheresa@hotmail.com or turn at the Sailfish into
the East Cape RV Resort for details in person.
