THUMBS UP - ANSWERS
a. New Section called Costco Run: I was
thinking. With the City Club & Soriana's so close to the
airport, trekking to Costco Cabo for a few things is a
pain. What if you could post and ask if 2 or 3 things could be
purchased at Costco or one could post they are going and have
room for 2 packs of papertowels, etc. Of course all arrangements
to be made by the people involved and that could include $5 for
a hotdog and soda? Cheryl
ROAD REPORTS
a. We crossed the border with no inspection
(although FULLY packed) at Tijuana at about 5 am Saturday Oct.1.
After a great meal at Quichele (across the carretera from an
army check point 3k from San Ignacio entrance we slept well at
Baja Oasis Motel for less than $40. Got an early start and
pulled into our place at Las Barracas before
5pm Sunday the 2nd.
It is true that there is quite a lot of
repaving going on. Yes, the detours are like the old days and
bumpy. But when one considers the immensity of the work being
created by the government here, the economy of not paving the
detours to please the anglos (whose contributions to the tax
base and the highway fund are minimal) and considers that
traffic is able to continue rather than the old 'park and wait
several days' of years gone by WE ARE GRATEFUL. We got here
right on schedule. Wouldn't have wanted our cooler with the dry
ice to have defrosted because of delays.
All of the check points were just wave-thrus.
When the squirt -your- tires guy at Guerrero Negro said the fee
was $20mn our howls of laughter were accepted by him
with good spirit and he took the 10p with a
smile and wave. There was almost no traffic in either direction.
What are you waiting for? Come on down and sweat a little with
us.
