A 100 Day Walking Challenge to Help Those Who Are Challenged All
Year Long
San Felipe, Baja California, April 27 - John and Rachel Pack, owners
of the Baja Good Life Club, are asking for your support for the BAJA
WALK – 100 Day Challenge. An extreme walking challenge that begins
May 12 in San Felipe and will take the Pack's on a 2000-mile summer
circumnavigation of the Baja peninsula on foot. The Baja Walk is
expected to finish on or before August 20, 2012 in Rosarito Beach.
The event aims to draw attention and raise funds to assist Baja
charities, specifically those charities and organizations that
provide aid and support to children, animals and environmental
causes.
The Baja Walk will be a death defying experience for the Pack's and
Cai, their trusted canine companion who will also walk the 100 Day
Challenge with them. The planned course is during Baja’s most
water-depraved months of May, June, July and August. The course will
take them along the path of many of Baja's mission sites, historic
sites, and natural reserves and along the breath-taking whale
lagoons. There are serious risks for John, Rachel and Cai along the
way such as: heat related illnesses, injuries, limited water
supplies, and poisonous creatures such as snakes and scorpions.
However, John and Rachel Pack see these dangers and the challenge of
the course overall as minor in comparison to the challenges faced by
the struggling charities in Baja. The extreme challenge of the Baja
Walk is meant to draw attention and raise awareness of these
charities, because the revenue for many of these charities has run
dry or has been greatly depleted.
Last year, John and Rachel Pack organized the successful Baja Love
Ride www.bajaloveride.com
a 4 days and 220 mile bike ride from Rosarito Beach to San Felipe
for the San Felipe Blues & Arts Fiesta. This year, John and Rachel
Pack have decided to forgo the ride and take all the risks
themselves in order to continue to raise support for the charities.
Most of the Love Ride team have already pitched in to help make the
Baja Walk - 100 Challenge a success, but it will take your help too.
John and Rachel Pack highly encourage Baja residents and Baja Good
Life Club members to contribute and follow their progress, even to
participate by walking with them through their communities. The
Pack's absolutely encourage people to join a support team for making
supply and water drops, which will go a long way in helping them
achieve the challenge. John and Rachel will also be carrying the
Spot Messenger and providing daily messages and live positioning
every five minutes from the trail, in addition to a weekly video on
Youtube.com.
"We know people are going to say we're crazy, but sometime it takes
crazy." says John
