Spring and Summer Baja Night Skies. During the next 4 to 6 weeks, Jupiter and Venus, the bright evening stars, are going to disappear in the glare of the setting sun. Jupiter will pass behind the sun; Venus will cross in front. About 6 weeks later, watch for both Jupiter and Venus to reappear as the morning stars in the east before Sunrise. Saturn and Mars are going to close in on each other all summer long. By August, they will be the bright evening stars that appear in the west after Sunset. If you can get away from bright city lights, the Southern Cross should be visible low in the south between 8 and 10pm from mid-May to July. Just to its east, two bright stars point at the top of the cross. The one on the left is the closest naked-eye star to earth. Light from this star, Alpha Centauri, takes only 4.3 years to reach earth. High in the southern sky during the evenings from mid-June through mid-August, the scorpion-shaped constellation Scorpius will be standing on its tail, with the red giant star Antares at its heart. There will be meteor showers in the early morning hours of April 22. Another meteor shower, the Perseids, will occur during the late evening of August 12 and early morning hours of August 13. Look for both of these showers in the northeast sky. Rates vary from 5 to more than 60 meteors per hour from year to year.

I have made a silicone pan handle with those extra strong magnets we see sticking to all kinds of products. And I also made a spatula with corresponding magnets. The result is a spatula that sticks to the pan handle and is easily removed when you need to flip or stir. This saves the spatula from getting burnt, saves from getting a traditional spoon rest from getting dirty because the spatula drips right back into the pan.
