In just two short days over 325 individuals ages
6 to 84 were screened for health problems related to high blood
sugar, high blood pressure, vision impairment and dental infection.
Volunteers from the Rotary Club of Los Barriles Cabo Este teamed up
with visiting Rotary Clubs Mt Bachelor, Bend, and Bend High Desert
of Oregon and the East Cape Health Center professional staff and
local volunteers to run a very impressive diabetes, vision and
dental screening. Through funding from a Rotary International Grant
and the dedicated leadership of Charlene Wenger, three local schools
and employees of the Hotel Palmas de Cortez received free health
screening this week. Charlene, a Rotarian and Director of the local
clinic, is eager to see a change in the incidence of symptomatic
diabetes decrease in the East Cape region.

“Thank You” to all of the wonderful people who attended the classes
at the Sukhasana Yoga and Pilates Studio here in Los Barriles...it
was an amazing season....and more to come in November! The only
remaining class is Camilla’s fun Samba and Afro-Cuban dance
class...it’s a hoot, if you have never been, you should check it
out....Tuesdays at 8:30am.
