ARTWORK needed for the East Cape Music Festival (November 17th,.
2012) The poster will be displayed all over Baja and on a banner in
front of Los Palmas de Cortez. The chosen artwork will be auctioned
off and 50% of the proceeds will go to the artist – the rest to the
Charity (art/music supplies for schools in East Cape). Also $500
pesos to the successful artist. Should have Baja and music theme. We

Is there someone who treats garden plants to rid them ofpests…I have
white flies (I think) on my oleander plants and cannot getrid of

The Rotary Club of Los
Barriles Cabo Este has charted out it's course for this next year
with many exciting new projects along with our ongoing commitments.
This next year's projects include Diabetes Prevention and Treatment,
Sea Turtle Preservation, Community Emergency Map, Alberque Support,
Fountain Maintenance, Dengue Mosquito Eradication, Disaster Relief
and one project that we are most excited about, a Community
Technology Center bringing computers to our kids.
It is also announced that the Rotary club will host:
Mother Day Celebration, Amistad Award, Carnaval, Rotary Cares, Tres
Pes Fishing Tournament and more to be announced. To see a complete

UPDATES ON ARMANDO
Wow... great community team work!

a. Received 8/8/12: Armando had the
surgical repair of his Rt leg last Friday. According to Paulie they
placed and epidural for the surgery, and planned on leaving it in
until the repair of his left leg tomorrow (Thursday). He has been
heavily sedated and still has break through pain that keeps him
awake at night. He is still facing a repair of his left arm ,
between the elbow and shoulder as best as I could understand. His
hemoglobin is down...11.6 (normal is 14-18) which is causing
fatigue, weakness, and decreased ability for oxygen transport in the
blood....so with the narcotics, he is even more lethargic. And of
course, the ongoing depression that goes along with this type of
hospitalization.
Note on Alex, the co-pilot....He had been released home
on medications after he suffered a concussion, but is now back in
the same hospital as Armando, next room over. He has developed
cellulites and phlebitis in his legs, and is on IV antibiotics and
has an
I- VAC...a suction device to extract excess fluid in the tissues
around wounds. He is using the wheel chair donated by Carole and
Lane Sykes to the community thru Dennis Riley.
So, now we are on the hunt for another wheel
chair. I have responded to ADHenterprises but have not heard back
from them as to where their wheelchair is located.
To all the Baja Racers...Bless you all for your ongoing
efforts to get much needed blood donations. I sincerely hope you
contact me, Tessa, and/or Cheryl at the BPE and fill us in on any
news or contacts you have made that may facilitate an operation such
as this in the future.
To all the friends who have sent prayers and words of encouragement,
Armando and Paulie say "thank you" AGAIN! They continue to be
overwhelmed by your kind thoughts and prayers.

b. 8-8-12: There is a very generous
gentleman in punta banda, close to ensenada, that will give a brand
new wheelchair that he will not be using to armando.
however, it will need to be picked up in punta banda and brought
south to los barriles.
if someone is or if someone you know is going south and has room for
it, it would certainly be appreciated. please contact me and i
will arrange for the transfer.

c. 8-8-12: Wheelchair Crisis Over!
Don came home with a wheelchair today! And via BPE had several move
generous offers from folks in the states. Thank you one and all! We
are crossing @ TJ tomorrow and will deliver it Saturday to Armando!

d. we have a person that will pick up the
wheelchair from punta banda and deliver it to either la paz or los
barriles. Paul is going to continue south after the delivery.
we now need to have someone in either la paz or los barriles to so
kind as to receive and deliver it to armando's family. i still
need to get a time of approximate arrival to either destination.
