Today about 9:45 am I saw an interesting cat come
out of the brush and cross in front of me not more than 50ft away.
Looked like a bob cat but had a tail maybe 15inches long. Gray in
color with definite bob cat like ears and head and a rakish profile.
Size of a medium size dog. The long tail seemed odd to me. I live
3km noth of La Ribera close to the beach in the jungle.

Attention All Amateur
And Professional Chefs! A Cooking Contest - (must have been a slow
day at (CANIRAC). The sardine fishing cooperative in conjunction
with the association that brought glory to La Paz two years ago with
the staging of the Guinness World Record attempt at the world's
largest burrito--successfully, as it turned out--is commemorating
its win with a sardine recipe contest.
To be held Nov 3, the contest is open to anyone. There
is no fee to enter. In brief, the contest rules state that your
recipe has sardines as its main ingredient, you must prepare 20
servings so judges and spectators can taste, and that you supply all
ingredients except for the sardines, which will be provided for you.
First prize is 25,000 pesos, second wins 15,000, third

 Panga
Banditos
a. This was a note to Ray who lives out El Cardonal way:
First the people here in El Cardonal saw 5 suspicious guys that
landed on the shore of the beach, in front of Reynaldo's house, one
big panga of 25´, a lot of gas containers, 250 hp, no hooks, no
fishing equipment, they stayed there for long time in the smalls
palapas on the beach, after that they went to the store minisuper El
Cardonal, corner of my office to buy some chips and soda, and
returned to the beach, now in the small palapa besides Jason´s
house.
Reynaldo´s brother came to talk with me around 5:00 pm and told me
about what was happend, so I talked with Veronica and we decided to
call the military that I knew they were in Bajada de La Mesa, I
called Sra. Angelita by radio VHF to Las Tinas and explained her
that we need help to call the military, she asked Nacho to tell the
military that we had an emergency in El Cardonal. Five minutes later
the Municipal police from Los Barriles arrived to my house telling
us that they came chasing 5 bandits from La Ribera and I told them
that I saw them just 10 minutes ago, then they prepared their
weapons and quickly went to the beach, the bandidos realized the
arrival of the police and started running crossing Carlos Carton´s
house, in that moments, the military were arriving (around 20
soldiers) and they started to help the municipal police walking
trying to locate them, all the people in El Cardonal turned on the
radio channel 72 and we started communication and helping the
police. Jose Martin's wife saw 3 of them by Larry's street and all
police and militars went there, but the bandidos got escaping and
become lost, after an hour of persecution, at last they caught 2 of
them just passing arroyo del bajo on the hill, before La Linea and
some more meters they caught 2 more. People from La Linea say by
radio (Chente, Holegario, Ramon) that the last one arrived in La
Linea asking for water, he was telling the people in La Linea to
help him to hide him or take him to a place when he can call by cell
phone, but they asked him to go away, 3 minutes later the military
arrived but the bandido already was running by the beach...not to
make the movie longer, they caught this guy almost arriving Boca del
Alamo, in Casa of Mr. Don Ingraham, people from Boca del Alamo were
seeing him by binoculars and indicated to the police where he was,
it was almost night, dark but fortunately they caught the 5 and we
could sleep tranquil that night. They brought a shotgun and buried
under the palapa on the beach.
Around 10 patrols police and militar cars arrived that night to El
Cardonal....

More on Dean's snake:
a. Yep you got it correct,
everyone else about 20 said a gopher snake or a lyre snake, I was
able to rule out lyre snake with the pictures.. Without having the
snake in front of me and the pictures of each of them there was no
way to tell the difference as a novice. All three are basically
identical till you have detailed pictures..
He is such a gentle snake….
