out kiting today and lost my board pretty far out in front of Playa
Del Sol. It may have washed up pretty far down wind but if anyone
finds it that would be awesome if you emailed me. I am here until
the 1st of January then back to Canada. My board is a white
wakeboard style Blade board with black straps!

BAJA NIGHT SKIES-- Cloudy
skies continue to make star gazing difficult, but with luck, you
might spot The International Space Station
passing over Baja Sur any evening from Dec. 29 to January 3,
between 6 and 7:30pm. The brightest and highest pass will be
Tuesday, New Year's Day. The ISS will rise faintly, low in the
NW, around 6:26pm, and will pass near the bright star Deneb in
Cygnus the Swan (sometimes called the Northern Cross) just after
6:28pm. It will be brightest a minute later when it is higher
overhead and passes through the Great Square of Pegasus. It
finally re-enters Earth's shadow in the SE about 6:32pm.
Iridium Flares will brighten the sky on each of the above
evenings. The brightest in LV/ CSL is during the early evening
of January 1, low in the sky (30 degrees) and slightly west of
due south. Times are 5:58:55pm/5:59:14pm. LB will have three
bright flares New Year's Eve: 6:04:53pm low in the SSW,
7:42:48pm low in the SSE, and the brightest one just half a
minute later at 7:43:17pm in the same spot from a trailing
backup satellite. Planets: Mars is still visible low in
the SW soon after sunset while bright Jupter is rising in the
east. Jupiter is worth viewing through a small telescope to see
its 4 brightest moons, the longitudinal bands, and if you are
lucky, the great red spot. Mercury, Venus, and Saturn rise in
the east a few hours before sunrise. A somewhat erratic meteor
shower, the Ursids, often radiates from the handle of the Big
Dipper after 2am on January 3. Sporadic showers that can
produce fireballs occur every evening. Tom S.
