We are asking for donations to help a local
family fly to Tijuana to received medical care for their 3 year old
son Ulises, who has tumors threatening his eyesight. He is already
blind in one eye and needs medical attention before the tumor takes
his sight completely. Last summer he went to mainland Mexico,
Obregon, and was told nothing could be done. Thank you all who
donated to help for this previous trip. He is now being helped by a
charity organization in San Diego but they need new testing in
Tijuana so they can make a diagnosis and evaluate his situation.
Anything you could give would help with their travel expenses and be
greatly appreciated. For donations or questions please contact

Hello East Capers,
I would like to announce the birth of a new fishing
club in East Cape named “Club de Pesca Deportiva Cabo del Este, A.C.”
(East Cape Sportfishing Club), we have been authorized by the Baja
California Sur State Sports Office to be the official club in the
area, plus we are recognized by the National Sportfishing Federation
as a club. Myself and 13 other people organized to begin this
fishing club, with the objective of making local events for all of
us that enjoy sportfishing, plus we are planning to do some other
activities. This is not a only Mexican club, it will be for all of
us that live here in the East Cape area.
Some of the people who are starting the club are: Tom
Kolasinski (Beerman), Esaul Valdez, Axel Valdez, Octavio Aviles (TurisPancho),
Juan Angel Rochin (accountant), Javier Cota (fishing captain),
Israel Araiza (Cuyuyo), Carlos Almanza (East Cape Tackle and Panga
Captain), Leonel Tamayo (Chapitos), Luis Eduardo Verdugo (Taxis),
and others.
We already have an agenda
for 2012. So far we have the following events coming:
· Sunday Feb 19th: 1st Annual Sierra Fishing Tournament
· Sunday April 29th: 1st Annual Dia Del Niño (Childrens Day)
yellowtail Tournament. Here the idea is to each team be obligated to
bring a kid under 12 to be the fisherman.
· Saturday Sept 15th: 1st Annual Club de Pesca
Deportiva Cabo del Este, A.C. Marlin, Dorado and Tuna Tournament:
This will be the official tournament of the club. We are working
to obtain a sponsorship from our government of $100K pesos for the
first place, this is not confirmed yet, but soon we will now if they
are going to support us.
· Saturday Nov 24th: Only Club Members Catch and Release Tournament.
