Sad News: The community of La Ribera has
lost one of our best friends. Roberta (Bird) Stover passed away at
UC San Diego on February 2, 2012 from pneumonia resulting from lung
cancer. Bird had been an active member of our community, associated
with Amigos de Animales since moving to La Ribera, and had served as
Treasurer of this organization. She and her husband, Smokey,
adopted, fostered and placed countless dogs here in our town. She
was selfless in her care of the animals, as well as the many friends
in her life.
Bird was born on February 29, 1948. On that day this
year, there will be a Memorial Service to honor her on our beach.
The time will be announced at a later date by her husband.
Bird will be missed terribly by her friends in La
Ribera and the rest of the East Cape. Her absence leaves a huge hole
in our town and our hearts. Rest in peace, Amiga

Ok everyone. Fatima
needs to raise 1200 dollars, NOW, to send a 3 yr old and his mother
and father to TJ for medical tests. If the tests show that he can be
improved by surgery in the US, then a charity in SD will take over
and they will get them into the states. Then they will be put up at
a Ronald MacDonald house in SD while the medical procedure is
completed.
To date Fatima has received two donations, one from
Cheryl and one from me. So lets step up to the plate, give this
family a little help and hope and get them the tests that they need.
I'm looking for a bunch of generous donations to get this done. NOW.
I will come and get your donation, just call me or drop it off at my
house in Gustavos Buenas Aires RV park. I will be at Smokey's for
the game.

please bring your recycling to East Cape Recycling Baja
headquartered at the East Cape Casas & RV Resort across from the
Modelorama. The newly constructed containment center is complete and
has new signs with our hope to 'Imagine a Green Earth * Imagina un
mundo verde'. Please remove all lids from plastics and crush them to
remove air; separate beforehand or upon arrival plastics into clear,
opaque or color. If possible on your Tuesday, please commit a bit of
time to assist the volunteers, or become one :). $70 pesos donations
