     EISF fishing tournament: It would appear the recession has taken its toll on the firefighters who participated in our tournament last year. As of this date we only have enough firefighters for 2 maybe 3 boats. I am sending this out as a feeler to see how many people would be interested in participating in this year’s tournament with private boats or renting local captains and boats or hotel boats.
     The entry fee is 250.00 per boat , that includes a Tee shirt, kick off party at Verdugo's Hotel, awards dinner at Verdugo's, mixer night at Los Pecadores Hotel. Prizes are 1st Place $750.00 , 2nd Place $500.00, 3rdplace $300.00. Prize money for biggest Dorado $250.00, Biggest Tuna $250.00 , most marlin daily $100.00. 2Days of fishing with most billfish released winning the prize money.
     Bottom line is we need 11 boats to break even and any thing over that will go to IESF to help fund getting more equipment and training for the bombero’s in our area. Please see additional posts on IESF and what they do. More information will be available on Tournament rules if we go ahead with it.

Fellow East Capers.

I am helping an organization in the states which is the International Emergency Services Fund ( IESF ). www.Iesfhelps.org  or facebook/international emergency services fund for more information. I.E.S.F has helped other communities in Mexico to improve their emergency services capabilities. IESF helps by providing support, service and training in skills such as Rescue, EMS FirstAid, Auto Extrication, and firefighting. This group has selected the Buena Vista Fire Dept. and surrounding Los Barriles area emergency providers for its next project. The plan is to supply rescue tools such as Jaws of Life, firefighting & ems equipment, and training to help the Bomberos become more effective.T here is also a possibility that IESF can help acquire Fire Engines and or ambulances for the area as well. IESF also hopes to work with our local East Cape Urgent Care Center to improve emergency services in our area.

     The 19th Annual Festival de Artes in Los Barriles  -  April 1, 2012                                                      The Asociación de Artes is now registering artists. Once again held at the famous and beautiful Hotel Palmas de Cortez in Los Barriles, it is sure to be a day of fun and sun.
