DIFin Los Barriles will be holding their annual Day of the Kings Fiesta for the local children on Monday, January 9th. They are asking the local community to help them ensure that every child will get a gift at this event. They will be open from 8:30 - 2:30 starting January 3rd to accept gifts and donations to buy gifts for the kids. The DIF office is located across from Tio Pablo's; next to the Cancha.
Packages should be wrapped with a note indicating appropriate age and boy or girl.

This Saturday, Jan. 7th, Rotary is taking sign ups for the 5K race/run "Run With the Wind" and the "East Cape Bocce Ball Championship". Both events will run on Jan. 14th at the beach during Lord of the Winds. Registration fees are $25 for the race/walk and/or $10 for Bocce Ball. We will be at the Road Runner Cafe in Plaza Pueblo from 8:00 to 11:00am to take your entry; don't miss these fun events and help support the many projects Rotary does in our community. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to review the article in the Gringo Gazzette about Amerimed so I wanted to make a few comments. I have had nothing but fantastic dealings with our local Amerimed and Char was in fact the one who lined up the excellent doctors in Cabo who were waiting for me when the ambulance arrived. The billing matter has nothing to do with Amerimed in Los Barriles as they are extremely fair and honest unlike the counterpart in Los Cabos. There was an error in the Gringo on the billing as the bill when I left was just over $50,000 and the inflated bill was over $120K,  As stated, the services where fantastic, it's only the administration in the Los Cabos Amerimed that is far from ethical. Thank you again for all the support our town offered as it was beyond incredible. I do not remember any of this but I hear wonderful stories on a daily basis about the support I did receive. I will be back on the water next winter.

b.    The Veterinary Clinic in Las Cuevas, Dra. Gretel is still located in Las Cuevas. She and her husband are going to stay in that location. She had posted in the BPE that they were moving to Santa Cruz, but that move has now been cancelled and she and her husband, both Vets are going to stay at their original location there in Las Cuevas, cell phone number is: 044-624-129-5640.
     She discovered my puppy had erlichiosis and she is now on antibiotics and on the mend. Erlichiosis is curable if found early enough. She takes a blood test right there at the clinic in Las Cuevas, and in a matter of a few minutes she can verify if your dog has this condition that is passed along by ticks which are quite prevalent in the East Cape area. My puppy exhibited signs of lethargy, not eating properly, and her gums seemed a whitish pink than normal. The gums should be rosy pink, not a light almost whitish pink. My puppy who is 7 months old is now on antibiotics purchased at the clinic, and a liquid that helps put the spunk back into my pup. The visit, the injection of iron, the diagnosis, the blood test and the liquid spunk all came to about $80. I am grateful for Dra. Gretels medical expertise and kindness with my new puppy, Chica2.
