LOST!  My 20 lb white poodle cross was lost (or taken) at the San Jose Airport on Tues Jan 10. She has a tight curly coat, a long body, longish nose and tail. She is a lovely dog that we rescued from the Baja about 5 years ago and was down with us for our annual trek to Los Barriles. There is a substantial reward for her return. If you see her please contact me at jkshellard@hotmail.com

LOST!!  Our best girl here at the Coldwell Banker office, Aracili Vargas, is missing her dog. It's a Dachshund (we always called em weeny dogs) named Harry. The Spanish pronunciation is more like 'Aw-ree.' I'm telling you this because he respond to English accents very well. His home is in the Spa. He probably got lost while running after his Auntie's car. Maybe couldn't find his way home. If you know anything about Sr. Harry, please contact Araceli at 624-110-0914. She is very sad about her dog.
Thanks for your help.

Yesterday a huge section of the community had a brown out. The voltage dropped to 40 and that's horrible for electronics. Most at risk and least likely to be checked are those little transformers that charge our laptops, cordless phones, cell phones, ipod, ipads, etc. Brown outs can damage refrigerators, water pumps and air compressors as well. I highly recommend using a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) or better known as a battery backup. In the case of a "brown out", the common surge protector is worthless. I have well over 10 battery backups that control power to all of the above as well as TV's and Dish DVR's. The hard drive in my Dish DVR failed last year because I had plugged it into the Surge Only side of the UPS and not the Battery Backup side. I recommend the UPS's that have a digital voltage readout. When there is a power issue, the alarm will sound and you will look at the voltage readout. If it's 0, that's a good thing but a reading between zero and 100 is a "brown out". After I identify a brown out, I turn of all my computers (that's usually enough to restore power to the community!). The next easiest step is to turn off the power at the main power meter on your monument. If you like your neighbors who are out of town, turn off their power at the meter. If the 2Wire Prodigy modem power supply has partially failed, you will see a steady red power light. The UPS will not be sufficient to protect refrigerators or other high draw items. It will give you enough time to turn off the TV and allow stable power to the Dish receivers for some time. Remember, your TV is drawing power even when turned off. If you don't have a UPS, unplug the TV or kill power at the meter. One final word on the UPS's, there is a mute button on the units to silence the beeps.
