I just had my passport work visa, and wallet with only cash card and
papers stolen out of my car tonight. It was all in a black HP
backpack and also contained a Go Pro HD Hero 2 camera and some
clothes. I will pay a $250 USD reward for the return of the contents
and papers, I am scheduled to leave Mexico next Saturday Jan. 21st

This is some info for Shaw users from the
Satellite Guy. Shaw has a new Triple Satellite XKU LNB, it is so
that residents of Canada can receive programming from the new bird
that is in orbit. The new bird's coverage will not include southern
USA and South, so the XKU LNB will not help us in Baja. All new
antennas shipped by Shaw will have the new XKU. DO NOT USE IT, if
some of your sets are not all on the same antenna, they will all
need to have the same XKU added. The present Shaw Receivers have to
be reprogrammed to even see this XKU, new channel maps installed,
it's better for us to use the Dual Sat Quad LNB for both the 60E and
75E. Check with your supplier to make sure any antennas you order
come with the old LNB's. Shaw requires any customer with a cottage
set, to up grade it to the XKU if the home is upgraded as all
receivers will be reprogrammed at the same time. The older style
LNB's will still get HD and the channels on 107 and 111 and it will
take years for Shaw to completely switch over to the new MPEG4.

The first Latin dance class was great fun. The
teacher began with cumbia and will go on to salsa and more as we
learn. He charged 130 pesos/person for the two hour class, but the
price will go down if the number of dancers goes up. We’ll continue
meeting every Wednesday from 4:00 – 6:00, dancing on my terrace
overlooking the Sea of Cortez. For more info, contact

1-13-12: Makini Fins arrived last night with some awesome fins
and t's. He has donated three slalom CNC G-10 fins, 34cm,34cm,and
36cm. Real Wind from the Gorge has donated two Wave Fins, 9.0''
and8.0''. The fins will be at the event site, in the Lord of the
Wind Showdown tent for you to come and check out. We will be
raffling these fins off on the final night. Please come down and buy
tickets!!

BAJA BISCUITS AT LORD OF THE WINDS SHOWDOWN
We will be a food vendor at Lord of the Winds this Friday, January
13th thru Monday, January 16th. Come out and enjoy the show, and
fill your craving at the same time. For Breakfast we will be serving
our wonderful breakfast burritos, packed full of eggs, sausage,
veggies, and cheese, and then covered in a chipotle sauce, with sour
cream and avocado on top. We will also have our breakfast skillet,
which is scrambled eggs, O'Brien potatoes, and covered in breakfast
sausage gravy. And of course, our cinnamon rolls with lime-cream
cheese frosting, and apple fritters. For lunch try our scrumptious
pulled BBQ pork sandwich with a side of creamy coleslaw. Also, if
you want to preorder our frozen sausage or our donuts, you can pick
it up on Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 at the festival. For more info

Lord of the Wind Beach Bash
hosted by ExotiKite Kiteboarding and Loco Rico's
Sandbar. Come party with us under the stars
8pm-1am, Sunday, January 15th at Loco Rico's
Sandbar. We will have a bonfire, volleyball,
frisbee, beerpong, fire dancers, music and dancing.
There will also be beer, a full bar, hotdogs,
hamburgers, tacos and sushi!

The Rotary Club of Los Barriles Cabo Este has been
given the task of arranging the food venue for Lord
of the Winds. We are pleased to announce that we
will have seven food vendors available during this
exciting event. We will have two coffee or morning
vendors offering coffees, espresso, sweet rolls and
breakfast pastries. We will have six lunch vendors
offering Hamburgers, Hot dogs, Pizza, Pulled pork
sandwich's, Subway sandwich's, Tacos, Burritos and
much more. You will not have to miss a single minute
of the exciting action on the beach, just stop by
the Rotary Booth to purchase food vouchers and
sample the many options for your taste buds.

LA PHOTOGRAPIC CONTEST
TORMENTA DE ARTE
Kiteboarding Baja is sponsoring a kiteboarding photo
contest for Lord of the Wind Showdown. Top photos
will receive $250dollars each towards kiteboarding
lessons. La photographic contest de arte has two
categories:
1) Best kiteboarding action shot: We are looking to
capture the emotion of riding and to capture the
athletes in motion
2) Best scenic shot: we are looking to capture the
spirit of Los Barriles during the Lord of the Wind
Showdown contest
Kiteboarding Baja is a kiteboarding school committed
to encouraging vacationers and locals to get
involved in kiteboarding. If you are not a rider
“yet” you can get involved by show casing your best
photograph taken during the Lord of the Wind
Showdown contest.
Rules:
Digital format in JPG, limited correction are
permissible. Photos must be taken during the Lord of
the Wind Showdown. Photos must be submitted with the
subject line 'best action photo' or 'best scenic
photo'. One photo per person, submissions will be
accepted from January 12- January 15th .
Prizes:
First prize in each category will receive $250
dollars towards a kiteboarding lesson. Photos will
be uploaded onto Kiteboarding Baja Facebook page;
and
www.kiteboardingbajaschool.com. The top
three photos in each category will be hung up in the
Kiteboardingbaja shack at the first arroyo.
