6/1/12 Went to the CURP office on Hwy One near
Fidopaz, across from Grill Compestre Restaurant and was told they do
not issue cards any more. They sent me to Immigration up on
the 5th of Feb. Got the card in 20 minutes. Also, had
asked at the LB Deligaton and they no longer issue cards.

How to book an airline ticket. This would be a good discussion

(1) We just booked round trip to Seattle from here, I started
out on the KAYAK web site till I got to "select a seat", when I
discovered that for each of the 4 planes that we would fly on, if we
wished to sit with together, we would have to pay a fee for one or
both of the seats. This could add as much as $180.00 to the $519.00
ticket ($45.00 for window $35.00 isle). I STOPPED RIGHT THERE! I
then went to the EXPEDIA web site where I booked the exact same
flight with the same airline for $529.00 with no fee foe the seats;
the only restriction was all the coach seats they listed were aft of
the wings, the rest of the seats were listed as "preferred", not
available to economy class tickets. Dale & Sue
ROAD REPORT

Update on the road from Hwy 1 to Puertocitos. We recently visited at
Gonzaga Bay (Rancho Grande) via small airplane, and a local resident
told us that the Mexican Government is slowly letting contracts on
small sections (10 miles, maybe?) for that new road. He also said
that cargo trucks are already using it, since that road is better
than the one from Mexicali to Ensenada, so watch out for them!
Expect the 51 miles of bad road to get shorter next time. Also, the
Alfonsina’s Hotel is right on the beach there. Turn towards the
beach on the road on the north side of the runway at the Pemex
station, and go past all the little beach houses. The hotel is at
the end of the second runway that is parallel to the beach! Good
food, comfy beds, and air conditioning via generator if it gets hot.
The photo below shows Rancho Grande at the top right, the runway to
the beach, and the beach houses near the hotel. We saw a whale shark
about 30 yards from the beach when sitting on the hotel balcony!
