Baja Walk Reaches Southern Baja Despite Many Problems
Mexico, Vizcaino, Baja California Sur, June 10, 2012 – John and Rachel Pack set out to circumnavigate the Baja peninsula during the summer, in 100 days or less. The trek would cross some the world’s toughest terrain, during the hottest time of the year. On May 12, 2012, they left San Felipe, Baja and now 30 days and 292 miles (469km) later, they have overcome many challenges and crossed into southern Baja. The walk is to bring awareness to the needs of various Baja charities that fight enormous challenges of their own during the summer months. Although they have come this far, the remaining distance may prove to be the toughest and most difficult yet.

June 21-23 - Join the Fish & Chips Tournament hosted by Keep'n It Reel at Hotel Palmas De Cortez. This tournament is open to anyone. There will be over $25,000 USD in cash and prizes up for grabs. This is a biggest tuna and biggest dorado tournament. Registration will take place at the pool bar at Hotel Palmas De Cortez on Thursday, June 21st from 9am-4pm. $350 per team entry fee. Fishing tournament, bikini contest and awards ceremony will be held on Friday June 22nd. Bikini contest is open to locals. There will be a cash prize for the winner of the bikini contest. RECYCLE NEWS! We had a wonderfully efficient recycle day last Thursday, due to increasing organization and our excellent volunteers. Even with many folks gone, we again took a full pickup and trailer to San Jose to be recycled. Big thanks go to: Claire Holder, Heike Tash, Lyn Ziething, Holly and Stephen Burgin, Steve Mirassou and Theresa and her team: Omar, Randal, and our driver Ramon. Good Job Volunteers!!! Due to popular interest, we WILL be having a Recycle Day in August. Here is our schedule:
July 5, 2012 Bring prepared recycles between 9am - 11am. Volunteers will be needed!
August 2, 2012 Same as above. This will be the last recycle day until November 1, 2012.
The Recycle Center will be closed after August 2 to avoid holding any material during storms. We will reopen November 1.
