HAPPY ENDING!  OMG.......just got a call from Patti at Hotel Los Pescadores saying that they were out fishing today and FOUND my umbrella floating upside down with the pole sticking up in the air, about 6 miles straight out to sea and north of me (at Spa Buena Vista) ! ! ! ! ! They thought is was a marlin....they didn't know what the heck it was. Going to pick it up now. AMAZING ! ! ! ! My faith in fellow man has been restored ! ! ! !      The Rotary Club of Los Barriles Cabo del Este would like to thank the Fathers/Sons & Buddies Fishing club plus the Santa Rosa, CA Sunrise Rotary Club and the Sebastopol, CA Rotary club for their very generous donation to our community to help the La Ribera Albergue. The fishing club held their annual fishing tournament here last week and thanks to the generosity of the club and the work of two members Leroy Carlenzoli and Howard Daulton they were able to fund some much needed work at the Albergue.
     Their very generous donation, including money from our local club, will install a water purifier for the La Rivera Albergue along with a significant amount of electrical and plumbing improvements. These improvements will make a long lasting improvement in the health and welfare of over 50 children in our community.  Thank You to the fishing club and visiting Rotarians.  www.losbarrilesrotaryclub.org

                         So, I asked Barbara about the Albergue, below is her reply.

     The La Ribera Albergue is the Mexican government dormitory located in La Ribera for Kindergarten through Intermediate School students who live too far away from town to get to school every day, so their parents drop them off on Monday morning and take them home again on Friday evening. There is also an Albergue in Santiago. Two years ago our Rotary club used a $25,000 grant to make significant improvements on each and last year we continued working with the Santiago Albergue with our clubs' local funds. This year we will focus on La Ribera to solve the issues of providing purified water throughout the entire facility, dormitories, restrooms, dining hall, and playground, and fix safety factors of poor electrical.    Thanks,  Barbara
