This is an update on Ulises, who was
earlier in the summer diagnosed with inoperable retinoblastoma,
cancer of the retina. Thanks to the Los Barriles community with it's
great generosity, Ulises and his family could travel to Tijuana for
a second opinion. Due to this generosity Ulises has hope again! The
doctor in Tj, Dra. Garrido, an eye specialist from San Diego, has
donated her time and expertise to helping out Ulises. Even though
Ulises has lost the use of one eye completely, she has ruled out
retinoblastoma and has diagnosed Ulises with a congenital condition
which currently does not threaten Ulises health or remaining eye.
Ulises and his parents now have the peace of mind knowing Ulises has
a chance at a long life with his eyesight, in one eye, intact.

Muchisimas Gracias to International Insurance
Services of Cabo and Arandi Torres (Director) for their work
following my recent accident near our Hermosa Vista home. The
adjuster (Luis) arrived the morning after the accident and Karla
Ramirez (Claims Manager) picked up the file the same day and managed
it to completion. Luis stayed in town that first day to see that the
police released the car (thanks, Dennis) and made sure I read and
approved the report before he returned to Cabo. My car was totaled
and, beyond the standard deduction, there was no "nickle and diming"
to work down the payment! Char sent along medical charges to Fredy
Braverman (the agent in the office who handles our vehicles) and
we've already received full settlement on that. The accident was
January 25th and I'm sure the case would have been settled several
weeks ago had I been down here to deliver the car's title to the
office before this past week when we arrived back in Los Barriles.
After my return to the states (Jan. 27) and before I arrived back
here, the office was in near-daily contact with me either via email
or phone to make sure I had the necessary backup papers prior to
meeting Karla this past week at the office. I signed a couple docs,
payment was approved on the spot and money was wired to my CA bank a
couple days later. After 20+ years down here with a number of
different agencies, and claims from losses in hurricanes, robberies,
etc. this was the most professional and timely service we've ever

worry the fish got away eventually once they tired of it.) I
