Baja Night Sky This Week. I went outside at 8pm Sunday night to count the stars in Orion for the www.GlobeAtNight.com star survey. At 8:07pm a bright meteor came out of Orion and blazed across the sky to the north. Around 1am Monday morning, electricity went out in El Sargento. I went outside. Mars was shining brilliantly overhead. With a small telescope you can see its white polar caps. The Big Dipper was as bright as I have ever seen it, and Arcturus was easy to find following the arc of the dipper's handle. The Southern Cross and the two pointer stars to its lower left, the closest stars to Earth, stood out clearly low in the south. Here are the highlights for the week:
Tuesday. Vernal Equinox (Mar. 20), first day of spring. Sun rises due east, sets due west. Equal day and night.
Thursday. New moon. Higher than normal high tides for the next few days.
Saturday. There will be a very bright flare at 7:55:49pm about half way to the zenith in the SE (over Punta Arena in LV/ES) This last one is moderately bright and 7 seconds later is Los Barriles.  Tom

a.  Saturday we did our usual visitors trip for our current guests on the Awesome, Theresa’s usual fantastic package trip to Bahia de Muertos, snorkeling, lunch, etc. This particular trip we definitely got a added bonus.
We arranged to leave a hour earlier than usual for a quick stop at the yellowtail spot off of La Ribera. We were there 45+ minutes, and in that time, we caught two 40# yellowtail and lost a third.
The crew was fantastic! The fish were just as fresh 8 hours later, and we shared fillets with the other guests on board. Our visiting friends had never fished Mexican waters before and were ecstatic!
Kudos to Theresa for another excellent trip.....the added fishing bonus made the day!  Russ bajaruss9@att.net 

b.  I have attended all the Community Markets and participated in the last one. I did well and so did my neighbor Joaqunia. I am for having more of them because the locals need a place to sell, and the buyers seem to really enjoy them. It is quite a happening for all. Toni  bntjones2005@gmail.com
