I just saw this year's
Shakespeare's Cinderella last night. It was a dress rehearsal with
full make-up and it was fantastic. To say that the play was funny is
like saying the Sea of Cortez is a puddle.....it was truly
hysterical! The costumes were great, the lines spoken quickly with
so much humor, you had to listen carefully to get them all, and the
songs were so perfectly selected and known by all of us that you
found yourself singing along with the actors. And as for the
actors....well what more can be said than they were, once again,
ready, willing and able to make for a thoroughly enjoyable laughable
evening!

Baja Sky Tonight. For insomniacs, the best time
to view the Southern Cross is now between midnight and 2am. Look for
it just above the mountains directly to the south. Each week the
best viewing time moves back by 1/2 hour, or two hours earlier each
month. By mid-April look for Crux between 10pm and midnight; by
mid-May, between 8pm and 10pm. Someone asked if there is a southern
star that marks the south pole of the sky as Polaris marks the north
pole. The answer is not yet. But since the Earth wobbles like a
spinning top, in about 12,000 years Vega in the constellation Lyra
will be the north star, and there will then be a south polar star.
In 1000BC the ancient Greeks could see Crux, but by 400AD the
Earth's slow 26,000-year wobble, called precession, had dropped the
constellation below the horizon in Europe. Crux is still dropping
and you won't be able to see it from Baja in 3000 years. Better
check it now. Tonight (Thursday) is the last night this month to
make an Orion star-count report at
