GOOD NEWS! Although a little longer than anticipated, LOS BARRILES' MAYOR RAMIRO IS UNDERWAY! The ROAD GRADER is expected to arrive tomorrow, Wednesday, and begin work on scraping the rutted dirt roads in Los Barriles, especially the arroyos - our rattling cars and our jarring teeth will be thankful for this important road maintenance. Delegado Ramiro said he will need and appreciate any 'Diesel Donations' that dirt road users feel inclined to assist him with. Donations can be dropped to the East Cape Casas & RV Resort on Main Street across from the Modelorama or to the Delegation Building. As little as $20 pesos to $200 pesos will be appreciated and help assure that our diesel budget for the future will keep the tanks full on the road Grader. TOPE NEWS! With thanks to those folks that donated to the 'TOPE REPLACEMENT FUND', Delegado Ramiro has his crew preparing next week to remove the existing car killing topes with the best topes in Southern Baja, just behind those in San Bartolo. The new ones will allow cars to easily roll over top of them and will also have aisles on each side of the street to accommodate bike tires. These committed community folks donated: Megan/Ian, Mengia/Henry, Tehroma/Javier, John/Laura, Paul/Marypaul, Alex/Elena, Jerry/Jean, Barbour/Granger, Theresa/Shaun, Connors. Remember to be patient while the city streets are improved. Thanks all!

Computer Alert: There has been another rash of Virus attacks to some local computers. The worst of the bunch act like a legitimate virus scan. They even use Microsoft Logos and visual representations of an actual scan. At the end of the "make believe" scan, the program advises you that your computer has a significant number of viruses and for a mere $30, they can remove those viruses. If you see this scan, DO NOT PROCEED and DO NOT FOLLOW their instruction! If you're a rookie, shutdown the computer. The authors of the virus are former Soviet countries that are trying to scam your credit card. The Virus is set to accept your credit card, remain dormant for 3 months then reactivate. You feed it another $30 and so on. The viruses are not detected nor stopped by most anti-virus programs. I'm working on a neighbors computer now that had an up-to-date McAfee Anti-virus Program. The virus locks you out of the internet, locks you out of all normal removal tools and prevents installation of programs to fight it. In some cases, cleaning the virus may require a reformat and re-install of the entire operating system. Where do the viruses come from. Great question and I'm glad you asked. A dear friend of 82 was searching for receipts for turkeys on line and got a hit - so it can come from a variety of seemingly harmless sources. If your a geek, cross platform contamination from servers hosting a variety of web sites including the bad guys sites.
I've seen one fatal hard drive crash this past week and a second that had major components of the operating system fail. The first one lost everything including all the photos and documents. The second got lucky. You should have at one copy of your documents and photos on your hard drive and a second copy on an external drive. If you don't have a backup plan, try Carbonite http://www.carbonite.com/en/  or Mosey http://mozy.com/ . Hard drives will fail!!!
If your computing needs are email, banking, photo, Skype, magic jack (old style) and surfing the web, buy a Mac. I bought a Mac Book for my wife years ago. I didn't want her to be worried about opening attachments, surfing the web or watching videos. The Macs are easy to operate even if you're a Windows user. The transition takes 30 minutes. If you need Quicken or Quick Books, you will need to stay with Windows! When I travel, I only take my Ipad. With the Ipad I pay all my bills, use the Magic Jack app for calls, email, watch movies, watch TV through Sling Box, use Skype and use the GPS for navigation. There are no viruses on the Ipad either and no spinning hard drive. You just can't type a long email. The Ipad 3 takes dictation!

a.  ALMA would like to send a Special Thank You to Jackie Reeves and the Yoga and Pilate's Studio for ANOTHER generous donation. Thank you so much.....

b.  Great thanks go to those who believe "A Rising Tide Floats All Boats" and the best way to perpetuate success is by supporting it. Each year Baja Shakespeare invites four non-profit organizations in our community to be the 'Non-Profit for the Night' and sell 50/50 Raffle Tickets to audience members in support of their individual cause. This symbiotic mindset underscores the generous and kind nature of our community and especially the Producer, Director, Actors and all those involved with our annual Shakespeare Theatre Event. It was wonderful again this year - great Panto theatre - and on behalf of East Cape Recycling Baja we would like to extend a huge thanks! On Friday night East Cape Recycling Baja received $3400 pesos from gracious audience members for the 50/50 Raffle. ECRecycling Baja received $1650 pesos toward our new trailer and the other half was shared with a passionate community recycler!

e.  The Cast & Crew of Baja Shakespeare would like to thank all volunteers, donors, sponsors, Friends of Shakespeare, parents, ticket, t-shirt sellers & especially audiences who helped, supported & attended our 12th annual production of CINDERELLA. It takes a village to put on a play and we could not do it without ALL of our faithful participants! We appreciate your smiles & laughter! “Thank you!” to each & every one of you!

BATIK TECHNIQUE: Melted wax is applied to cloth before being dipped in dye. The beeswax will hold to the fabric and  the paraffin wax will allow cracking, which is a characteristic of batik. Wherever the wax has seeped through the fabric, the dye will  not penetrate This traditional method of batik making is called batik tulis.
