TRAVEL REPORT BY JENNIFER FLOWER
- May 2012
"Hey all. Just wanted to
thank all the nice folks who offered advice for my solo trip
northward. It ranged from, "Go topless, pick up hitchhikers" (I'll
let you guess who that was ;-) to "batten all the hatches and don't
talk to strangers" (or something to that effect.) Many women told me
they'd been doing it for years and love doing it. Well, I'm a little
too old for the first advice and am solidly with the latter camp,
although I did take the advice to be watchful, etc. I had a great
time! It was glorious, relatively cool weather, I listened to Michio
Kaku's Physics of the Future from Audible, and talked with my
traveling companion, Grant, who took his position facing forward
under the rear-view mirror on the dashboard for the whole trip. This
is Grant, setting up for a volleyball game at the Bay of Concepcion.

It was pretty funny watching the very respectful troops at the road
blocks watch me and Grant approach. They tried hard not to smile,
but they were not very successful!
There were no unfortunate incidents and I had a pleasant meal at the
big ole barn of a restaurant at the Old Mill Hotel off the Bay just
down the street from El Jardines near San Quintin. Didn't see the
rooms but I had a good meal, used their free wifi, and talked with
the folks. Check it out! Hasta la invierno, Jennifer Flower
