Chronic and recurring back pain ismost often
caused by misalignment of our bodies. And why do our bodiesbecome
misaligned? Pain and injury cause us to change our posture and our
gait patterns to avoid discomfort. Many of us live with a raised
shoulder or a rotated hip, pronated feet, slumped shoulders or head
forward. You name it. Those postural compensations cause other
joints to go out of alignment as well. The body is one functional
unit. Treating just the site of pain might deliver temporary
relief, but it does nothing to deal with the actual structural cause
of it. Postural Alignment exercises help our bodies re-discover a
functional posture; a posture where our load bearing joints
line up vertically and orizontally; a posture in which each muscle
does the work that it was designed to do. Annalisa is a certified in
the Egoscue method of Postural Alignment. She will lead POSTURAL
ALIGNMENT CLASSES at the yoga center beginning this Tuesday
(November 20) from 9:45-10:45 AM.
