We were notified of unfortunate and sad news this week
and we want to notify others in the sport fishing business
and those doing recreational fishing that Arturo Ramirez,
the local Port Captain for the East Cape for the past two
years, died suddenly of a heart attack just over a month
ago. He was the father of a 12 year old daughter and had a
new son just 10 months ago. He is being replaced by Luis
Enrique Garcia Alvarado, the son of Arturo’s predecessor ‘Fortunato’. Luis
can be reached at

045-612-18-32503. If you had any paperwork in process with
Arturo, Luis now has it and is looking to make contact

certificate, Luis has a stack of them and he is looking to
deliver them. I know many appreciated that Arturo had a
working knowledge of English, although Luis does not. On

a. If you have out of town guests
and don't know what to do on a windy day we highly recommend the
Dolphin Discovery in the San Jose Marina. We went there today with
our family and went on the Royal Swim which was the most expensive
at around $130 per person, but it was awesome. The most
exhilarating part was when two dolphins pushed on your feet until
you were standing up straight as they propelled you across the
tank! Dolphin Discovery also is a supportive community member and
donated several different levels of dolphin experiences for two to
the East Cape Guild Monte Carlo Night last November. Definitely a
top adventure here in Baja. Bruce & Jill
b. There are 2 bike shops, each having a location in San
Jose del Cabo and in La Paz. One is a Specialized dealer and the
other is a Trek dealer. There is excellent service at both
shops. The Trek shop which is located at the Home Depot turn-off
went above and beyond to help with a replacement rim. Expect to
pay more than you might at home as it seems the tariffs on bikes
and parts are a factor.
