RECYCLE NEWS: East Cape Recycling Baja is very pleased to announce
that we will again accept Expanded Polystyrene (EPS6) (not to be
confused with styrofoam) at our recycle center, beginning this
Thursday May 2. This is the packing material that comes when you
buy a TV, computer, appliance, or furniture. It is composed of
white beads compressed together. If you break up EPS6, unlike
Styrofoam, it becomes little round pieces/beads.It is usually is
marked with a recycle symbol with the number 6. It may also say
EPS, or EPS6. ALL polystyrene and styrofoam is toxic in our
environment, and this is one of the worst. The Great News?? A
company in LaPaz, EF Blocks, is turning this toxic waste into
efficient building blocks!! Come to recycle day and meet Kay
Uekert. She is building her home in Los Barriles from this
material, making it "green" because the blocks are 87% recycled and
has high insulation properties. Kay will be there with brochures and
