known, passed away this morning. He has been reported to have been

The Rotary Club Los Barriles Cabo Este will
be opening the new technology center this Sunday the 24th. Many
representatives of our Local, County and State government will
be here to help with the opening. Prior to the ribbon cutting
our local kids will be performing a flag salute and singing. The
opening and ceremonies will happen at 1pm and the open house
will be until 4pm. Come join us to see the ceremony and tour our

a. WOW! What a feast at Octavio's
restaurant in El Cardonal.
The food was over the top with many people lining up for seconds!
We had a core group of 16 people at one table and there were seventy
plus people at the event.
Live music was provided by two smooth guitars playing easy listening
hits by Santana and other guitar greats. Highly recommend Octavio
and his staff. Gary and Marlene (Rancho Pescadero)
b. Hand Surgeon: My husband snapped a
tendon trying to start a quad... and had to have surgery to
reconnect it. We absolutely loved Dr. Javier Escamilla - and
the surgery was completely successful. He is fluent in English (and
has studied at University of Texas Health Center). I believe he has
offices in both San Lucas and La Paz. My highest recommendation.

c. Tecate Crossing: We’ve used
the Tecate crossing at every opportunity when heading north. It has
had a new route and crossing for probably 4 or 5 years; can’t
remember exactly. We usually stay overnight in Ensenada, then get
to Tecate at about 9, and it has never taken more than 1 hour,
usually less. There is still just one lane (the other lane is for
commercial trucks), but there are multiple lanes once you get to the
US border crossing. Just follow the signs to the entrance of the
waiting line. It is ½ mile or so east of the actual crossing, so
you head out of town to the east, then double back to the crossing.
Most of the waiting line is right next to the border wall. Good

d. Good news!!! We have extended the
deadline for pre-registering and assuring yourself a Road Runner
Beach Bash 5K T-shirt to March 1, 2013. You can pre-register at
the Road Runner Cafe'. The race is at 9am. on March 23rd. and
will be totally run on the beach. The race start is at Buena Vista
La Playa and runs north along the beach to the turn around at Costa
Brava. We also have a 1K for people 12 and under. All 1K runners
will receive finisher awards and T-shirts. Cost for 5K is 100 pesos
and 25 pesos for the 1K. We do have sponsorship for 1K entry fees.
There are two categories: barefoot and shoed. There are many age
group divisions. Proceeds will go to help students pay for their
