Missing 10.5 M Liquid Force kite
Help!  Yesterday (Saturday) while kiteboarding in El Cardonal, my 10.5 meter Liquid Force Envy went south toward Los Barilles without me.  Very quickly, both releases 'released' and my kite has ended up in a 'God only knows' locale last I saw it was outside of Algandones - it's likely under water. a.   I had a medical-related experience to share with BPE readers. In January 2013 I suffered from severe pain in a tender place. I telephoned Dr. Marcial Cevallos (612-348-4819), who used to staff the AmeriMed Clinic in LB and now is doing his surgery residency at the new General Hospital in La Páz. He graciously found me a surgeon and made an appointment for me two hours later. My wife made a bee line for La Páz with me in tow.
     The surgeon was Dr. Ricardo Flores Namnum (612-124-0401 ext. 303) at Central de Especialidades Médico, commonly known as the "purple hospital" for obvious reasons. Dr. Flores was great --- quick and to the point. He advised immediate surgery. I checked into the hospital (on Abasolo at Del Pez Vela), and was given a clean private room in which my wife was invited to stay overnight. Dr. Flores and his team --- which included Dr. Cevallos --- had me on the operating table by 6:30 p.m. I was discharged late the next afternoon. I had a check-up with Dr. Flores the following week.
     The procedure was successful. I did not suffer any infection. My recovery is almost complete. The cost for everything --- doctors, inpatient and outpatient services, the room and medications --- was only about $2200, which is less than my deductible would have been in the States for a similar procedure. I am indebted to Drs. Cevallos and Flores for their skill and care. I would do it again in a minute.
