Warning: One house in SPA was broken into
over the weekend. A rear window was smashed to gain access.
Sunday early morning (3am)
a black 4 door sedan with 3 men was observed "lurking" in front of a
unoccupied house in SPA. A vigilant neighbor observed the men leave
the car and head for the house. He then made a lot of noise and
yelled at them to leave at which point they jumped in the car and
sped off. Not known if these two incidents were related, but
once again, we need to be aware that vigilance and security are
important.

How many saw the pod of whales about 5pm on
Saturday. They showed up about 8 miles off the North Beach and
put on quite a show for about 5 minutes or more. Does anybody
know what kind of whales they were? We thought maybe Orcas

Ventana Veiw: Last month, my house
was broken into for the first time in
over the 13 years that we have lived in
El Sargento. Although my husband was
away on a trip, I was not apprehensive
since I always lock my doors, padlock
the main gates and have four dogs.
During the night, I heard the dogs
barking briefly but I heard no unusual
sounds. When I got up, I noticed the
office downstairs had been tossed and my
laptop and wallet were gone. The main
gates padlock had been cut and my 2005
Honda was also gone.
I Called the El Sargento police and they responded in 5
minutes. They found the burglars had
entered from the beach and breached
a kitchen window. We filed a report
at the house and gave them a
picture of the car, license plates
and vin number. They told me that
within the hour, the report with
pertinent information would be in
Cabo, La Paz, Constitucion and the
security crossing at Guerrero
Negro. I also filed a report in Los
Planes. The next day, a five man
investigating team showed up at the
house for a further assessment of
the robbery. The next day, less
than 26 hours after the car was
stolen, a smiling local policeman
told me the car had been found. The
La Paz police had seen the car being
driven late at night and given
chase but lost the car in Centenario.
They notified the El Sargento police
at
4:00
in the morning who went out and
searched the area until the car
(slightly damaged) was found.
All the Police forces involved were fantastic. They
were polite, supportive, worked
really hard and reflected
outstanding teamwork. We managed
fine with my limited Spanish and
their English with help from my
friend Samuel. They were completely
professional and there was no hint
or mention of Modida. The next day
we went to La Paz and after
photographing everything, it was all
returned to us. The whole incident
was very professionally handled. My
husband and I wish to extend our
sincere thanks and appreciation to
all the policemen involved for their
hard work, support and sense of
humour which made this so much
easier.
We also wish to remind everyone to lock your windows
and doors; unfortunately things
have changed in our community over
the past ten years. However, if you
do have a burglary, be sure to file
your reports promptly and trust your
local police who are really trying
and succeeding to do a great job.
