EAST CAPE RECYCLING BAJA
UPDATE
The summer school
program, Curos de Verano (Summer Courses), directed by Francis
Olachea, got underway last week with 80 local children (ages
6-12) participating in various fun activities, plus 20 teenagers
who are playing sports. Cursos de Verano is sponsored by the
Asociación de Artes, the East Cape Guild, Colina del Sol, local
governmental agencies, and other non-profits. East Cape
Recycling Baja is pleased to provide environmental education to
the children this summer. As part of our program East Cape
Recycling Baja is sponsoring a Recycling Contest, with
various prizes for the kids who participate. The grand prize for
the two children from each age group (there are 4 groups) that
collect the most recyclables by weight is a fishing trip on the
Awesome and Too Awesome sport fishing boats. There will be a
total of 8 grand prize winners. Each child will invite one
parent to join them on the fishing trip.
The first recycling collection day was
Friday and the kids were AMAZING. The
kids were on the beaches, in the arroyos, and sifting
through the trash of their families and neighbors to collect
recyclables that would otherwise end up in the dump (an
ecological wasteland) or worse yet, in the sea (an
ecological disaster). In just 3 days the kids collected 115.54
kilos, that's 255 lbs of plastic and aluminum
cans!!!! We are so proud of them. If you see the kids in
their purple, green, orange or red Cursos de Verano
t-shirts, please congratulate them for their superior
effort PROTECTING MOTHER EARTH. And support them by
recycling plastic, aluminum, paper and cardboard, and clear

Recent affiliation with Los Cabos Children's Foundation
allows us to provide Medical evaluations and Dental care
for the children who are in need of Cardiac Surgery and
Cancer treatment, all at no cost to the families. Help
us with referrals of children in need of medical
attention, cardiac and cancer treatment all provided
right here in La Paz.

a. A great birthday dinner out!....Friday
after I closed my store (SunDays Clothing & Gifts) my hubby took me
out to the dining place of my choice...and I'd just seen on BPE that
Lighthouse Pizza now has a second location at Las Palmas. That was
perfect....pizza and oceanfront dining!! I was in heaven (and
living the summer in Los Barriles!) The pizza was delicious...the
location delectible...and Jesus, our waiter from Lighthouse Pizza,
took great care of us with total service and attention to our every
need. I'm going back again tonight for more! Janet/SunDays
