Dish Network is continuing to Audit Customers
that have more than one DVR (Digital Video
Recorder). Yesterday I was contacted by Dish
who asked me to verify certain information from
my two DVR's. I asked several questions as to
why he needed this information since Dish
already had the receiver serial numbers. He
said that the information would insure that I
would continue to receive an improved,
uninterrupted signal. What he really wanted to
insure that both of my DVR's were in my house.
He required that I maintain constant contact
over the phone and not pass the phone to anyone
else. Clearly intending to make sure I was not
calling a neighbor to get information from a
Shared Receiver. He asked for the serial
numbers and other information from sub menu's
that would verify that I had possession of both
receivers. Bottom line, if you are sharing you
account, you may be subject to the same audit.
There is a work around - If you have a Sling Box
on the other DVR in a separate location, you can
access that Audit Information from you computer
linked via Slingbox to the remote receiver.
