I can't tell you how many people have asked me:  "Is my DNS server working correctly?"  Well, probably not in Mexico.  A  DNS (Domain Name System) server changes  www.example.com into a number stream (192.0.43 .10) that is used by the internet to find your web site. The DNS is basically a phone book that looks up those numbers for you.  I recently change mine from the standard server to one provided by Open DNS.  My search speed and web page requests have dramatically increased in speed.  When I open my Chrome browser, it's set to immediately open 15 links.  Previously only three would open correctly.  Now they all open perfectly.  Using Open DNS also blocks all known Phishing sites!!!  Those are the guys that try to make their web page look like your bank page; steal your information and somethimes money.  If you have small children, you can use the Open DNS "Parental Controls" to block them from questionable web sites.  So how do you change?  Search for www.opendns.com.  Look to the right for "Free DNS" and click on "Learn More".  On the right side, click on "Get Started".  I elected to change my computer and not the Router.  Click on "Computer", next you will see a list of operating system.  Click on yours and follow the detailed instructions with pictures very carefully.  I had to reboot one computer to pass the server test.   If your a Geek, type 74.125.135.147 in your browser's address bar.   Note:  you will have to register with Open DNS with your basic email information.
