RECYCLE NEWS: THURSDAY,
JUNE 6 is our next recycle day. We need
VOLUNTEERS this month as many of our regulars are gone! Please
come help us stomp, sort and load this month's recycles at East
Cape RV and Casas' recycling area between
9am-11am. Even if you have just
part of that time available, we would LOVE to see you. Bring
hat, gloves, and a smile! Check for summer's recycling schedule
and list of recyclable materials. (please insert link) We now

======================================= There is a new
series of Apps for both Android and Apple Mobile
products. For maps and guidance in Mexico search
"Google Play" or "App Store" for Nav Free Mexico. Those
apps will download all the charts for Mexico for free.
Most important, you do not need a data plan for them to
work. As long as your device has a built in GPS, you
will get constant location information and navigation.
Note: not all Ipads have a built-in GPS; only the 3G
models have that capability. I tried the mapping
systems in Cabo and La Paz, they work!!! Most
important, as you zoom-in in La Paz, you can see all the
street names and the direction of travel for one way
streets. If you know the address of a store in La Paz,
you can touch it on the map (hold that tap for a moment)
and the app will ask if you would like to navigate to
that location. If you current location does not appear,
touch the blue arrow off to the side and it will
re-locate your position on the map. All good so far!
There are a couple of downsides: It uses up a lot of
battery energy, bring your mobile charge. I asked the
system to take me from LB to Cabo Central and it
directed me north to the intersection and the through
Todos Santos. La Paz directions were very, very good
using the touch method. Look at a Mexican Business card
closely and you will see not only the house number but
also the cross streets. There is reason, the house
numbers are not necessarily sequential. I tried several
times to translate this into understandable English but
had no luck!!! Give it a try, it's FREE.

East Cape Recycling Baja is a community-based initiative

The mission of East Cape Recycling Baja is to help our community
reduce,
reuse and recycle all disposable materials. This is a BIG job in
any
country, but in Mexico it is especially challenging! Currently,
East Cape
Recycling Baja is run by three energetic women who are committed
to this
community and to the benefits that recycling has on our lives,
our
community, our culture and our countries.
REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE! Recycle dates for 2013: May 2, June
6,
July 4, August 1, November 7, December 5.
East Cape Recycling Baja will be accepting recyclables 9:30 –
11:30 at the East
Cape Resort Recycling Center (across from the Modelorama). For
2012/13 we
can accept the following RINSED/CLEAN recyclables:
We accept the following RINSED/CLEAN recyclables on the first
Thursday
of each month, 9am to 11am:
PLASTIC BOTTLES & JARS: Crushed and sorted - clear, opaque and
colored (we have large sorting bags at the recycle center)
PLASTIC BOTTLE & JAR LIDS: Separated from the container
HARD PLASTIC: furniture and crates, etc.
ALUMINUM and METAL CANS: Rinsed and crushed.
GLASS – Clear glass ONLY. Lids and corks removed. Please
deliver in a
sturdy box for transport (leave in box).
CARDBOARD: Flattened and tied in bundles (please keep wine
boxes
and other sturdy boxes intact, we transport the bottles in
these)
PAPER, NEWSPAPER, MAGAZINES: Tied in bundles
SMALL HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES
COMPUTER EQUIPMENT (NO MONITORS)
PRINTER CARTRIDGES: HP, Samsung, Xerox ONLY
VEGETABLE OIL (used): in a closed/sealed plastic container
