Arrived @ San Ysidro/TJ southbound border crossing @ about
5:30am Sunday Sept 29th. All lanes were directed to inspection.
The back of our Expedition was LOADED with boxes and ice chests
covered with cargo blankets and luggage on top. Two very polite
& professional ladies greeted us and asked where we were going -
they spoke perfect English. We said we were going to our house
in Loreto for a 3 month stay. They looked under the hood of the
Expedition and peeked in the back and side doors.....then told
us to have a safe journey. That was it. Never asked about our
immigration status. We had piles of receipts at the ready and
have our Residente Permanente cards but were never asked for
them. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes. From our
experience and that of several of our Tripui neighbors in recent
days, I don't think the Customs policy has changed. Your
previous poster may have just drawn the short straw.
