My favorite VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) device is
Ooma. Voip devices are used to call land lines over high speed
internet using normal phones. I have Magic Jack, NetTalk Duo
and Ooma - Ooma is the best and Consumers Report rates it number

What's a Roku 3 and why do we need one? Excellent
question and I'm glad you asked. The
Roku 3 is Roku's newest media player -
http://www.roku.com/products/roku-3.
It's about the size of a hockey puck
which means something to our Canadian
buddies. It will play media from
Netflix, Amazon Prime as well as over
100 channels available from Roku. In
addition there are over 1000 private
channels available, as my wife would
say: "Google It, Honey!". The Roku has
a USB plug-in that will allow you to
show properly formatted photos and video
from a USB Storage Device. Most
importantly the Roku 3 has "Angry
Birds". Will it work in Los Barriles -
yes, but! Some media providers restrict
their content to certain global
regions. As we all know Netflix USA has
different content than Neflix Latin
America. Amazon Prime will not stream
to Mexico. It would work if you have a
VPN (Virtual Private Network) but that
requires an higher skill level. YouTube
is not available on any Roku Player.
Bottom line, I have two Roku Players and
I leave them in the US. It's easier to
use an Add-on called "Hola" for Firefox
and Chrome browsers to send Netflix USA
to your TV. Link:

or simply google "Hola Firefox Add on".
I connect my laptop to the TV through
the HDMI cable and switch the Laptops
"playback" devices to the HDMI. By the
way HDMI cables are significantly
cheaper through Amazon than any Big Box
store.
Chromecast from Google is the new player on the block.
It's about the same size as a large USB
Thumb Drive. Currently it plays media from
Netflix and YouTube with more on the way.
It's controlled from your Ipad, Iphone or
Android device, then plays directly from the
servers. Best of all, it's only $35. It
has the same issues as any media streaming
devices in Mexico.
Remember that if you are sharing your internet with
neighbors, streaming media requires a lot of
bandwidth. It can dramatically affect all
users. Be a good neighbor!

PET ANSWER: We just came in on Alaska.
This was the first time in several years that
we have not been asked to show pet papers! Did
not even have to scan her carrier! However, we
did get Chica (cat) her rabies shot again as
last we knew, it had to be one year even tho in
the USA it is a shot for 3 years. Our vet says
it does not hurt her. ??

Meet Pepita who is looking for a home. She was a homeless
beach puppy when found hungry & forlorn down at Playa Colorada.
She was rescued by Stephanie & Paul who took her in, had her
shots given to her, had her spayed, housebroke her & taught her
commands. She is a smart, loving little dog & is socialized.
Unfortunately, her foster parents have to go back to the US
on Saturday & can't take her

teacher in Los Barriles who might be willing to work with me once or
twice a week while I am there. I don't need the person to be an

ROAD REPORTS: Thanks
to the BPE!!! and Telcel as I can set up a portable WiFi Hotspot
anywhere I receive a decent signal in my motorhome towing a car.
I stopped just before Santa Rosalia on Oct. 13/13 ck'd the BPE and
saw the map for Octave. So on the 14th I drove basically into
Octave and beat the flooding it was about to cause. I was on the
back side of Octave just before Insurgentes and stopped on the only
piece of high not muddy ground I could find in Constitution. Oct.
15th am clear skies and no wind, later midlevel cloud due to the
moisture. The highway out of Constitution is under repair with a
muddy one lane detour. After that it was clear sailing.
