Monday! A massive turtle release
this Monday, that is! Sixty days ago
a tropical storm came through and a herd of Momma turtles raised
onto the beaches in front of the coming storm to lay their eggs.
More than 20 nests were found the following morning and now...they
are ready to hatch! Come join Grupo Tortuguero de Los Barriles and
personally experience the baby turtle program
this Monday when nearly 1,000 babies
are scheduled to begin their lifelong journey in the sea. Further,
during October through mid-November, nearly each afternoon at
6 pm (5
pm after daylight savings time next week) turtles are
released in front of the nursery or within 1 kilometer north to
south. Hundreds of babies are launched - like
Monday, last October over one
thousand babies were also released and all the school children came
to experience and celebrate the event. More details can be found on

Resort. Your donations are appreciated; costs for the 4 month long
program run high and except for a small stipend, the Araiza's are
self funding. Their four wheelers are pushed to their limits
cruising the shores at dawn looking for momma turtle tracks. Nursery
fencing and signage requires an annual investment. Head lamps,
shovels and gas all must be purchased. For the Araiza's, it's the
love of the turtles and their deep interest in assuring they have
the same place in the world in the next millennium that they have in
the last, that keeps the Araiza's enthusiastic and committed. Please
come out, join them, bring your friends, families. You'll go away in
awe.

Take a look at all the photos you have on
your computer! This may be the last time you see them! Have
you backed-up your data and photos lately. Remember one copy is
not a back up. Most Geeks have one copy on their hard drive,
one copy on an external hard drive and one copy off site (in
case your house catches fire or burglarized). I use all of the
above as well as cloud storage through Picasa On Line. With
Picasa I can view all my stored photos on any portable device
(Ipad, Iphone, Android devices). Even that brillant article on
the Roku box failed to mention that I can view my photos stored
in Picasa on the Roku. My wife has the easiest backup
solution: "Honey, have you backed up our data lately!" If you
don't mind paying a little money each month for an automatic
backup service, look at Mozy or Carbonite. Those work in the
background and make changes as you make changes.

My bank has just instituted a new policy for
my protection but I did not receive message until I called them.
They stated that there have been copies of debit cards in Mexico
and since I did not notify them that I was going to be here they
blocked my card. They asked me how long I would be here and
dated that time to block card again. They also suggested I check
the activity on my card often, which I do. So if your card is
not working that may be the reason.

Ok, so you got the
new smart phone and your battery barely makes it through the
day. There are many ways to conserve power. When you depart a
"wifi" environment, turn off the WiFi otherwise the phone will
continue to seek a new connection. If you are not using the
GPS, turn off the app that was using GPS guidance. In most
cases, that can be accomplished by telling the app to "stop or
cancel navigation". The previous two functions consume a lot of
battery life. Turn off Bluetooth if you're not using it. I
always travel with a car charger for my phone and Ipad - no
surprise there. 4G speeds consume a lot of power as well. If
you really need to extend the battery, consider turning off
"Cell Data". Using all that stuff I can get 24 hours or more
from a battery.
There is a free Android and IOS (Apple Mobile) app that
allows you to rotary dial the phone just like we remember. For
those of us that suffer TMB Syndrome (too many birthdays), this
app is a must! Search Google Play or Apple's App Store for
"Rotary Dial".

the daughter, these two Cocker spaniel beauties are in need of a new
