Dead Alter, it is more elaborate than ever, and Sara is baking his
favorite oatmeal cookies and other goodies to share with those who
come by to say hi. Lots of new surprises from Oaxaca are being

More Recycling News: Most of you know ECRB can no longer accept
colored wine bottles. However our local winemaker, Bob Pudwill from
Rancho LaVenta, needs them to bottle his delicious wines--hooray!!
We hereby announce our "BOTTLES FOR BOB" program. If you are

send instructions and put your name on our list. Bob will take all
prepared wine bottles, red and white, with a few exceptions. Let's

I am now being asked about the schedule for
the 2014 Lord of the Wind. Rotary is very excited to again be
hosting LOW in Los Barriles and Buena Vista. The schedule is as

Technology Center, from
2pm to 6pm.

The first ever Tamale Cook Off contest,
hosted by the Fathers Association (PTA) from
6pm to 9pm in the Concha next to
the Technology Center. Come enjoy the best Tamales on the East
Cape and support our local schools.

Day 1 of racing takes place at the beach at
the South side of the Southern arroyo in Los Barriles.

Jan 24th

Day 2 of racing, again on the waters in
front of the beach venue.

Following the great day of racing the
community is invited to Buena Vista Beach Resorts for their
second annual Reggae Rocking party.

Day 3 of racing takes place at the beach at

Our first SUP race starts at
8am, leaving from the beach
venue and traveling up the coast to a mark upwind and then a
long downwind run to the finish line.

begins.

The Awards and Community Party will be held
in the new park and will be a traditional Fiesta.

OTRA VEZ Restaurant - Many of you were asking, we confirm to not
reopen the restaurant in Los Barriles, BUT we will open a restaurant
in LA PAZ. The decision has been taken for various reasons that we
carefully weighed. It was not a light decision, as it involves a
change of life and the possible loss of many affectionate friends
and guests of this community here. But in spite of our heart we have
to follow our mission to carry forward the Italian Food Art where it
will have a greater spread. Within the end of this month the Grand
Opening in La Paz will happen, and we will inform of the exact date,
so in the future if any of you makes a journey to La Paz you will be
able to taste again our genuine food including Pizza of course. We
are preparing a new great Menu which will satisfy every taste till
the higher gourmet palates. Another communication follows soon with
details, date and directions. We thank you all for the warm
following and support in Los Barriles during these past years and

from plastic exhaustion and the Sea of Cortez. Anybody got a pair
of size 11 Rollerblades or equivalent to loan/rent? I could have a
pair of skates sent from San Francisco but that would be a hassle
(unless somebody knows somebody making the trip from anywhere near
Richmond, California to Los Barriles.) This is a definite long
shot; I haven't ever seen anybody else but me rollerskating around
Los Barriles/Buenavista, but maybe somebody's got some inlines in
the closet.

EXERCISE INFORMATION

MUSCLES=STRONG BONES.
Classes at the Yoga and Pilates Studio in the
Healing Winds Holistic Center
start
Monday, 11/11. Annalisa's
strength training classes will be held MWF from
1:30
to 2:30. This isn't anything you would find at
your local gym. Participants progress around seven stations, each
with its own menu of lifts or exercises that you can choose among.
You determine what you can perform and track your own improvement.
Each station has options to accommodate your personal needs, quirks
or challenges. Four of the stations will have "slow sets." This is
lifting done very slowly, to challenge every muscle fiber involved,
but not to stress the joints. The "core work-out" station will
include a kettlebell option (check it out on Youtube!). We'll have a
couple of benches and a "peanut ball" for those of you who fall off
of a round exercise ball. Bone strengthening exercise is something
we all need, and we'll make it fun, with good music, in a
supportive, non-competitive atmosphere. End with a thorough stretch,
and you're good-to-go for the afternoon.
Also: I have a program to do a "Fracture Risk
Assessment." Look through your files and find your FEMORAL NECK
T-SCORE (that's the top of your femur) and the date from your most
recent bone scan. When we meet you just need to answer some simple
questions and the program (its an app. called FRAX) will predict
your chance of a fracture in the next ten years. We'll set aside
some time one afternoon to do this.
