For your information the Rotary Club Los Barriles Cabo Este in joint
venture with Georgina Rochin and Hotel Buenavista Beach Resort are
working on the opening of a highly needed Child Care facility for
all those moms who need a place to leave their children while they
go out to work. The Rotary Club is sponsoring this project same as
the Technology Center and we are trying to make something important
for our community. Right now the renovation of the house where the
day care is going to be is on time and we have cleaned the whole
property. Now we need to start putting some equipment together and
do some roof work, walls, windows and doors. So as you can read
there many thing to do yet. And we are looking for all those
generous souls who would like to donate to this amazing project.
Right now we are looking for a refrigerator and a stove for the kids
kitchen. We also need some financial support for the building of the
new roof. All your donations can be directed to Rotary Club Los
Barriles Cabo Este. If you need more information or would like to
let us know of things that you might be able to help with, please
contact us at
felipe@hotelbuenavista.com or
claudiamercado@yahoo.com

East Cape Health Center is doing
it !!
We have negotiated to take over the available Banamex Bank space in
Plaza Libertad, starting internal demolition yesterday ! We are
building a new Shock/Trauma unit, new modern exam rooms and fully
stocked and expanded public pharmacy. It should be ready for our
move-in within a few months !!
Our current location will remain open as the Diagnostic Center,
providing the community with digital X Ray, ultra sound, fully
functioning laboratory and Vision Center.
I will keep you updated !!
Thanks to everyone for your belief, trust and support in our medical
and dental clinics over the years. When finished this fall, we will
continue providing outstanding emergency and medical services. If
interested in being part of our growth, donations are now being
accepted at the clinic or International Community Foundation for tax
deferred donations.
Thank you !! Charlene Wenger

Medical supplies for first aid in small isolated
community. I am a registered nurse and live where the closest clinic
is 20-30 minutes away and the road at times not passable after rain
. Have been providing supplies but need more. Asking for donations.
Bandaging, disinfectant, suture scissors, clamps ,tweezers, local
anesthetic, needles, thread, splints, catheters, etc. A small
defibrillator would be great. Gracias

a. Answers to the Sunrise Phenomenon photo:

1) I definitely know what it is. It's the StaPuff Marshmellow
Man rising like a Pheonix out of the sea. Unfortunately, the hot
summer Baja sun melted him. Seriously, whatever it is, you were
very fortunate to have seen it.
2) I
witnessed a Mexican military helicopter blow up a super panga that
was running drugs and crossing the Cortez one time, and it looked
similar, but the smoke trail lasted about 20 minutes...
3)
The picture is of a vertical rising cloud formation. I see them all
the time in the morning. This particular one is perfectly positioned
to be backlit by the rising sun.
4)
Baja Night Sky -- August 2014. 1. I will offer my best guess as to
what the interesting crepuscular photo submitted to the BPE might
be. Crepuscular refers to phenomenon occurring around dawn and dusk
so I suspect the bright image breaking out of the morning's horizon
clouds is formed by crepuscular rays. Crepuscular rays, sometimes
referred to as God's rays, are one of many atmospheric phenomenon
such as rainbows, halos, sun dogs, and the famous green flash that
occur under the right conditions. They are rays from the sun that
shine through gaps in clouds, mountains or even buildings. Sometimes
they will appear as shafts of light streaming through a series of
holes in a cloud cover giving the sky a "cathedral-like" look. With
the apparent cloud cover the day of the photo, rising warm air or a
temperature inversion might have opened up one hole in the clouds to
let sunlight through. As the hole grew larger, sunlight passing
though would cause a growing region of clouds near the horizon to be
illuminated, then as the hole closed up the bright image would
disappear. Google "crepuscular rays" and click on images and you
will find a few similar to the one in question. But if you look
close, the image appears to be a woman leaning to her left. She is
wearing a hat and high-heel boots. So maybe we have a new mystery
for the Sea of Cortez. 2. The two brightest objects in the sky
after the sun and moon, Venus and Jupiter, are moving closer
together in the pre-dawn sky. They will come closest Monday morning,
August 18. Enjoy your beautiful Baja Night Sky. Here in Sacramento,
I managed to count 10 stars last night in a clear sky. Tom S.
