Back by popular demand and just in time for those spring break airline tickets - actually my wife suggested it. When you search for airline tickets on line, the web site that your viewing leaves a "cookie" (electronic tag) on your computer with the pricing information. If you return to that web site at a later date, your computer tells that web site that you are a returning viewer. I many cases that price will go up because they know you are interested. So, if you are seriously looking, use a different browser. If you used, Internet Explorer, switch to Chrome or Firefox. Advanced users can clear cookies to accomplish the same thing. Alternate plan, use a different computer. The sweet spot for purchasing a ticket is six weeks out. However, the airlines are all using advanced algorithms to price individual flights. You can expect changes as the number of passengers on that flight increase. Remember Southwest and AirTrans do not participate in web rakes. Rakes comb the intenet in search of airline fares. Those would be Kayak, Expedia, Travelocity, etc. To gain access to Southwest, AirTrans, and other discount airlines, etc go to their individual websites and use the same rules above. Warning: Spirit Airlines has the worst customer service score ever awarded by Consumers Report. Example: show up at the counter with a normal carry-on not prepaid on-line, expect to pay $100!!! They have even more surprises.

Your driving in the US and you need a place to stay tonight. Try the updated phone app - Hotels Tonight. It will give you availability in your area and give you the name of the Hotel as well as the spot price. I normally use the Hotwire App but you never know the exact hotel just the rating. Last fall, we booked a very nice room at the Sands Casino in Reno for $16 per night on Hotwire.

Stuff you really didn’t want to know…
1. One gram of dog waste contains 23 million fecal coliform bacteria. Enough bacteria washing from beaches into the water can make the water unsafe for swimming (and kiting and windsurfing one would suppose).
2. Dogs (and dog waste) can be significant hosts of both Giardia and Salmonella.
3. Burying dog waste on the beach is not the answer – the release of nutrients from the decay of the waste promotes weed and algae growth that can lead to reduced oxygen levels in the water affecting fish and other sea creatures. (All information from stormwatercenter.net)
Our “town beach” – roughly from Buena Vista to North Beach is receiving a growing mass of dog waste. To reduce the effects of dog waste and to continue the ability for people and their pets to enjoy our beach, members of your local chapter of Wild Coast/Coasta Salvaje have installed and are maintaining seven stations with bags and garbage cans for dog waste. We estimate that some stations are disposing of 50 pounds of dog waste a week. That’s a lot of poop that we would otherwise walk or lay in, or our children and grandchildren would play in!
Please use the bags provided and dispose of the bags in the containers provided. Don’t drop your bags on the beach! Look for the stations at most major beach access routes.
