Cabo Pulmo: Written
9/24)
Hello there! We thought we’d copy you our update from Cabo
Pulmo, see if there is something of your interest. One
detail: the road from Cabo Pulmo to La Ribera is a mess, both the
dirt road and the paved road. It’s feasible but slowly and
carefully.... and we’ve got rain on our way, which won’t help too
much. Cabo Pulmo didn’t have much damage, besides some fallen trees
and one sea wall.

EastCapers.....people will be driving down soon.
What should they bring with them that will help the most?

Anchor Storage Report: I have now been in contact intermittently with the
facility manager, Erik, who took our "Constant Care 24x7x365" mantra
to heart and has kept Anchor Storage open even during Odile, and
despite him losing his home and sleeping in his car to stay on
site! Wow. So if you can make it to us, we will be there for you!
Every flight I booked has been cancelled, so if you do get there, he
humbly asked for Tylenol and toothbrushes, if any kind soul can
bring them. -Lu (proud member of a great Cabo team).

The Computer Guy: Ipad, Iphone and Itouch users - IOS 8
has been released for Mac Mobile devices. Not so fast. Apple has
pulled some of the IOS 8 updates. It has caused some dialing
difficulty in certain version of the Iphone. If you have an Ipad 2,
do not upgrade! As with any new operating system, it's always best
to wait a couple of months for all the bugs to be worked out.
Attention travelers. Did you know rental car companies
can charge you a $250 penalty for returning a non-smoking car that
has evidence of smoking upon return. Hotels have charged up to $1000
penalty for smoking in a non-smoking room. If you encounter a rental
car or hotel room that has a smokey smell to it, best to select
another option or at least annotate it in writing. Always take
photos of any car that your rent prior to leaving the rental lot.
Good reason to have a camera phone and if aliens land you can have
proof!
Most ID thefts occur through the medical
system. SS numbers are required on just about every document. A
“credit freeze” would stop that. Here is the link to the process I
used:

Some things to bring south in case of an extended power outage. Find
one of those old time plug into the wall phones that does not
require a power supply. That will give you the ability to make calls
as long as the generator at the phone company continues to run. A
good Battery Backup unit is a good idea as well. My internet modem
will run for 6 hours without CFE power powered by that Battery
Backup. Currently available at Costco USA for under $100.

We
have not seen any Propane gas trucks that refill the larger propane
tanks. The cylinder guys have shown up but not the larger propane
trucks. I have contacted Caligas in San Jose about this
problem several times but unfortunately, they have their
priorities in San Jose and Cabo - of course. They have only had a
few requests for this truck from LaRibera and Cabo Pulmo and until
there are more people asking for this service, they will continue
sending their trucks to SJ and Cabo. Anyone who needs this service
should call Caligas directly at 142-0290 and put in a request. If
there are enough requests they will schedule a delivery. Right now
they do not have it scheduled for the East Cape areas for another
week. I'm sure there are many out there in BajaLand who may be
running out of propane and hoping for a refill. If so, please call
them...they do have an English speaking representative.
