A very playful and friendly momma dog was found in
the Cabo Pulmo area. She appears to be at least a year old and same
coloring as Golden Retriever. Not knowing for certain, but the momma
seems to have been away from her pups for a while. If you know of
anyone who has lost this very friendly dog, please send message to:

On Sunday, July 20th we will be holding the
Community Market in La Ribera during the evening hours from 6pm to
9pm in the Plaza in front of the Delegation building. We are asking
for any vendors who would like to participate. There is no vendor
fee. We hope the Sunday evening hours would be better especially
during these hot Summer days. Come on out and participate and bring

I have an update from Wells
Fargo on the debit card theft. I encourage everyone to look up
"credit card skimmers" online. Basically, WF says they see alot of
fraud/theft from skimmers particularly in Mexico and Europe. It is
spreading to California and Florida. So, when you use your card at
an ATM, run your fingers along the entrance to the card reader. IF
any part of it seems loose or you detect a sticky residue, alert the
bank or store. As well, run your fingers over the keypad. Often a
false key pad is placed over the machine's original. As well, tiny
cameras are also affixed to the machines, so even if you are using
an ATM where no one else is around put your hand over the keypad as
you type in your pin. Luckily, my case was resolved within a couple

BV Fire Chief Arturo Castro and his son Ismael for completing their
fourth weeklong course in Emergency Medicine held in Loreto. Also,
from Santiago, Gordito and Alonso. We salute their dedication to
serving the people of the East Cape.
2) The WildLand Firefighters', fire shelters that were
available at the LB Farmers Market, are now at the Buena Vista Fire
Station! The retired shelters are super strong aluminum foil that
last and last, protecting just about anything from the sun! The BV
fire station is right on the highway. Chief Arturo is there if you
see his green Jeep Cherokee. Usually he's there on weekday mornings
later he is tending bar at Rancho Buena Vista. Reach Arturo Castro
cell # 624 157-6385 for your questions about emergency fire and
ambulance service of the East Cape (excellent English) and how you
can donate and or buy a fire shelter! 50 pesos! 100% proceeds goes
to training and equipment.
(Incidentally, the BV firefighters are sporting new uniform shirts
paid for in part, by last years fire shelter sales)

Benefits of the just passed telecom reform bill in Mexico in a
nutshell:
- Elimination of charges for long distance calls, beginning January
1, 2015
- Prepaid cellular phone balances will now be good for one year and
not just one or two months
- Users of prepaid cellular services can check account balance free
of charge...
- Number portability available in just 24 hours
- Consumers will receive bonuses for non-compliance and quality
agreed in the contract
- Wireless phones must be now sold unlocked
- Service providers must comply with the quality determined by the
IFT with penalties imposed for non-compliance
- Any interconnection charges with other service providers shall be
eliminated
- Existing telecom infrastructure must be shared with competing
service providers
- The digital television switchover will be implemented on December
31, 2015 and expanded programming will be implemented
- Mandatory service and equipment requirements for the use by the
disabled
The reform package should open up the telecom markets to increased
foreign investment, bringing in greater competition and expanded
services with better pricing for consumers.
