The Rotary Club of Los Barriles Cabo Este is pleased to announce the 2014 Amistad Award winners. Empresario, Leonel Tamayo Minjares and Cathy Obhenshain will be recognized for their outstanding work in our community. The Amistad Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the East Cape community. Through the efforts of these recipients the quality of life in the East Cape region has been significantly improved.
     Leonel has been active in many community events including the support and training of our local volleyball teams since 1990. Leonel personally coaches the teams and supports them in local, state and national tournaments. Leonel has been a part of the PTA for the kindergarten school, elementary school and secondary school. Leonel organizes the Semana Santa Activities for the community held each year at Piedras Gordas beach.
     Cathy can be counted on to volunteer for just about every event. Cathy runs the East Caper for the Arts Association, donates her skills to teach 100 kids each summer swimming lessons, works four days on the beach for Lord of the Wind, organizes the kite flying during Lord of the Wind, has been very active in Alma and worked with some of our seniors to maintain a quality lifestyle late in their lives.
     Both Leonel and Cathy are extremely deserving of this award, so lets congratulate them.

b.  Recently I had Gerardo Viscarra redo my Pergola (stick covered awning) and was more that happy with his work and would highly recommend him. He also does palapas.
