RECYCLING NEWS: It's Movie Night
Under The Stars!! Coming up Tuesday, March 25, East Cape Recycling
Baja will present another terrific film: "Dallas Buyer's Club"
starring Matthew McConaughey in the lead roll which won him this
years Oscar for Best Actor! Also starring Jennifer Garner and Jared
Leto (who won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar). This is the true
story of electrician and Texas hustler Ron Woodroof who works around
the "system" to help AIDS patients get the medication they need
after he is himself diagnosed with the disease and given 30 days to
live. (This film is rated 'R' so you may want to leave the kids
home.) But DO bring a low-backed chair (you may place them anytime
after 5:30 to hold your spots) and settle in for a 7pm start. ECRB
will be selling their famous theater-style popcorn with real butter
and sea-salt, as well as wine, beer and water. A $50 peso (or more!)
donation will get you in the door for this fun fundraiser where 100%
of our proceeds supports community recycling and environmental

BAJA NIGHT SKY #52: 1) A Full
Moon rises Sunday, March 16, at 6:44pm. After the moon's top
appears, how long will it take to rise? 2) Jupiter is overhead, and
Sirius is high above Canopus in the south. 3) Mars will rise about
8:45pm, Saturn about 10:45pm. 4) Did you see the ISS, Mercury,
Venus, Saturn, Mars, Antares, Scorpio and Sagittarius Monday
morning? Did you spot the star cluster between the last two? In 130
AD, the astronomer-writer Ptolemy described it as "the little cloud
following the stinger of Scorpius." With the benefit of binoculars,
you can find Ptolemy's Cluster of 40+ bright stars just to the left
of the two "stinger stars" of Scorpio. The Butterfly Cluster is just
to the upper right of Ptolemy's Cluster. To the unaided eye, both
appear as tiny clouds against the Milky Way background. The best
time to find them is before 5:20am. 5) If you missed Monday's early
morning flare, there is a brighter one tonight at 7:22:42pm (± 10
sec). Look for it high in the north, just to the right of Polaris,
but much higher. Set an alarm, or like me, you will forget to look.
6) Finally, welcome to Ranger Gary and his La Ventana Birds report.
I got a peek at his Xantus' Hummer suggestion, and found the
beautiful bird in El Arroyo de Leon above La Ventana, right where he
said to look.
