Rotary will be doing a silent auction at Homes
and Land of Baja Office starting tomorrow, Wednesday, 10am for large
items that have been donated. Come by the Office parking lot and
check out the trailer full of items. If you would like to bid on
something come into the office and place your bid. The silent
auction will end Wednesday at 12pm. The live auction will be Friday
at the Reggae party. Items for silent auction include: Brand new low

palapa in Martin Verdugo's RV Park. It is the long permanent spot
with a palapa roof, in the middle of the park. Chad is sorting
through an astonishing amount of fishing gear and other items and

2) I have no clue if this is valuable info
for Los Barriles but sure sounds good!
TMobile users, I have found a way to make my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone
work in La Ventana.
Previous years I have not been able to use my phone in La Ventana
yet it worked fine in La Paz and other major towns. In fact I
received a text from TMobile when I entered Mexico informing me I
could use the phone in Mexico with no additional charge. I found
this solution while answering a question posted on Ventana View.
On the phone - Goto setting: More Settings: Mobile Networks:Network
Operators:Default Setup; select manual: wait for Telcel GSM to
appear and select it. It is important to make the Default Setup
manual NOT automatic as the phone wants to revert to MovieStar which
has no cell service. Brian, thinks this is because the MovieStar
tower broadcasts a much stronger signal than Telcel and the phone
tries to go to the stronger signal. With this setup I am getting
solid voice and texting while data varies with 3G 80% of the time, E
15% of the time and 5% no data. My TMobile plan is one of the Simple
Choice plans that include Global Coverage that allows me to make
unlimited calls and texts to/from the USA and receive unlimited data
(only 3GB of high speed data). I have been using this for 3 weeks
with good results, friends and family calling me, and me calling
them in the USA.
3) The LA VENTANA WINDFEST will be held January
20-22.
It will be a 3 day event uniting the windsurfing and kitesurfing
communities of La Ventana with fun, friends, competition, and
celebration. Race events include Fast Track, Course Racing, Hot
Springs Downwinder, and Big Air. Race Director Robbie Dean (from the
San Diego Yacht Club) will be the Race Coordinator. Awards and
raffle prizes will be awarded in all categories. PROJECTO X returns
for a second year and will be held on the 22nd at 4Elements
Kiteboarding, along with the awards ceremony. For more information
