Here is Brodie's story:  As we traveled from Mulege down to Los Barriles four years ago, we made friends with a couple from Great Britain who were riding their bicycles from Vancouver down to the tip of the Baja. These friends traveled South on their bikes ahead of us and three days later we met them in La Paz. They had found this dog at the side of the highway in the desert south of Constitution. As you can see from our previous picture, she was in very rough shape. Our first thought was to be humane and do the right thing but we had a very kind vet in La Paz who examined the dog and determined that she was without disease and could be saved. Our friends continued on their trip to the Mainland, and we chose the name for this dog. Because they rode Brodie bikes, her name was decided.
We cared for the dog throughout the winter here in Los Barriles with the help of our friends from Playa Norte RV Park.
When found Brodie was 10 kg, she raced in the Agility Heat at a healthy, maybe plump 25 kg. We are very proud of her and with the benefit of her Los Barriles training, she placed second in Sunday’s Heat # 4 race.  We also want to thank Tracey Lews from The Barkery who had a lot to do with Brodie's success.

b.  Police and Tickets

          1)  I appreciated the posting about the border crossing at Tecate and police corruption trying to have people pay them bribes in lieu of giving them a ticket. My family has traveled the Tecate crossing and had about the same experience EXCEPT we did not pay the bribe. I simply confidently told the officer that I did stop at the stop sign and I did stop behind the yellow line. I asked how could he see my front wheels were over the yellow line when his was a vehicle behind mine?
     Here is the problem. People pay the bribes and feed the beast of corruption. I say this having been a police officer and police administrator. I told my wife when the officer approached the car, if we have to, we will go to the police station and call their bluff. IF you know you did not violate a traffic code then stand your ground or forfeit any chance for justice. If you pay the bribe, you make it tougher on everyone else by rewarding bad behavior.  Thanks for listening. Drive smart and safe in Mexico.  Richard
