Very soon T-Mobile will be releasing a new plan for
about $50 per month that will include unlimited calls, text and 1
Gig of data at 4G speeds (after 1 Gig it slows). The text and data
plans are international. The international data stream is at 2G
speeds which is okay for email. Their CEO just announced that plan
will now include free calls to Mexico and Canada. If you currently
have a T-mobile plan, you can upgrade your current plans. Remember
Google is rolling out their cell phone service that will slightly
cheaper and will include international service. Google's service is
limited to one phone at present. Bottom line – now is not the time
to sign up for a two year contract.
A zero day exploit has just been discovered in Adobe Flash Player
for both Mac and PC. In English, bad guys have found a way to get
into your computer through a security flaw in Flash Player which you
use to watch embedded videos and YouTube. Chrome browser has it's
own version of Flash which is far more secure. How serious is the
threat? Adobe is working very hard to publish a patch. If you get a
prompt to update Flash, do it!
The operating systems for both Windows and Mac are becoming more
secure as they mature. Most exploits and security flaws pop-up in
Flash Player, Adobe Acrobat PDF reader and Java Script. If you have
those programs, keep them up-to-date. I use Foxit PDF reader instead
of Adobe's reader. I don't use Java unless an app must have it and I
use Chrome Browser.
