LORD OF THE WIND (LOW) January 12th to
17th
The 6th
Annual Lord of the Wind kicked off the International Kiteboarding
Association’s 2016 North American Kite Foil Championships Monday
evening with a Registration / Welcome party at Buena Vista Beach
Resort featuring the Taste of East Cape. Many thanks to all
participants and our vendors: Lighthouse Pizza, Green’s Restaurant,
El Gecko, and Baja Brewing Co. And a very special thank you to our
host, Hotel Buena Vista Beach Resort. On a beautiful night a good
time was had by all.
Congratulations to Vance / Rigo Lucero, the winner of the ATV
raffle!
Yesterday the competition opened with three races; IKA Hydrofoil
(pro), Slalom (pro) no hydrofoils and Slalom (open) no hydrofoils.
At the end of the day we gathered at the Los Barriles Cancha for our
traditional Tamale Cook-Off with the proceeds going to Los Barriles
schools. Sra. Veronica Banaga Flores won the crown of Queen de Tamal
for her Costilla de Puerco en hoja Platano. Sra. Alba Luz Osoria
Lazrano took Second place with her Tamal de Elote and Sr. Veronica
Castro Minjadel placed Third with her Tamal de Puerco.

they have given in support of Lord of the Winds. The proceeds go to
help our wonderful community. These are the items to be auctioned
for Friday night and Saturday night. The only live Auction will be
Friday night lasting 1 hour. There will also be a silent auction
Friday night. We appreciate the communities support at these events.

6pm - 11pm. Celebrate a long day at the races with live music, a
"chicken-crap" contest, cold beverages and hot food. $25ps dogs or
beer.
Friday, Jan 15th: Reggae party at Buena Vista Beach Resort
from 6pm -12 midnight. If you like Reggae and Rock, this is your
party. Great live music, cold drinks, delicious meal, and both live
and silent auctions. Come eat, drink, buy something special and
dance the night away. Sponsored by the Buena Vista Beach Resort.
Saturday, Jan 16th: Pig Roast at Lazy Daze Beach Bar from 6pm
– 12 midnight. Come join us for cold cervesa and roast pork. Dance
on the beach under the stars.
Sunday, Jan17th: Lord of the Wind Awards Banquet at the Los
Barriles Park (Laguna Park) from 6pm - 2am. After five days of
competition come see who will be crowned Lord and Lady of the Wind
for 2016. The evening features awards ceremony, live music,
beverages and banquet dinner.
