1) If you want to know your balance at CFE Call 071 They speak
English. You must have your "number of service" located on your CFE
bill. Then you can just go to any of the many machines in La Paz to
pay "anticipado" (ahead of time). They are very easy to use. I hear
you can also pay your bills at XOXO but only for the amount due
2) Mountain Biking News
This has been a great year for mountain biking in La Ventana / El
Sargento. We hosted two major races with over 200 participants and
added two new trails to the system (Punta Gorda and Mala Mujer). The
season is winding down now and I'm preparing the trails for summer
and fall rains by building grade reversals and drainage to prevent
water damage. Thank you to all who contributed labor and $$$, and to
those of you who donated bikes and parts for the kids.
Word on the street (trail) is the old El Moy plumbing store will be
a bike shop next season.
I'm working with the Quercus people to re-route the Pista Pista
trail through their development. Info here:

Here is the official word on the Rancho Cacachilas
trail system from my friends at Ventana Windsports: "There
have been many rumors about what is going on with the mountain
biking at Rancho Cacachilas. To set the record straight, Rancho
Cacachilas is only allowing guided access to the trails via Ventana
Windsports. The cost per rider is $25 and a waiver needs to be
signed. The price includes entrance fee, ride up and back,
refreshments and guide. We are aware that it is not ideal to pay to
ride an area that we used to ride for free. We need to respect the
guidelines set by the owners of the property. They have put a lot of
resources into building an incredible trail in a gorgeous setting!"

3) At long last the Museo de La Ballena y Ciencias del Mar is
open to the public on the Malecon at 16th of September at the old
Carlos and Charlie's place. It definitely is a must see. It boasts
one of the largest collections of Cetacean Skeletons in the world
and much more. Many of the whale, dolphin and turtle skeletons are
from our own beaches. It is open Tuesday through Sunday 9 am to 6 pm
and the entry fee is $10us. Hasta Pronto........... Don't miss it.
