b.  Another car stopped north of LaPaz:  We were stopped near the turnoff to Magote/Pemex yesterday heading North.  Two officers (one on either side) approached the car.  The fellow told me that I was speeding and I said I was not speeding in a firm voice, and waving my hands NO.  Then he said I was swerving on the road.  I continued to say no, no, I was doing nothing wrong!!  He then told me to proceed, but to be careful.  Most of this in Spanish with some English.  I say, hold your ground if you were doing nothing wrong. c.  Just wanted to share my experience, though it’s kind of embarrassing they almost got away with it…  Before returning our rental car to Alamo, we stopped at that Pemex before the turn into the airport. We needed about half a tank. The guy filled it up and then immediately punched in some numbers so I couldn’t see how many liters were put in. He told me 1350 pesos and I wasn’t thinking or converting into USD in my mind, just kind of in a hurry, and gave him the pesos. (If it matters, I’m a 50+ female and my husband was in the car) So it hit me on the way out how it was about $65 for less than half a tank of gas and we turned around. The guy had pesos in his hand ready to give to us, knowing what he had done. He printed out the ‘ticket’ showing what the total cost was supposed to be (around 700 pesos) and tried to give us the 400 pesos in his hand to resolve it. Of course that wasn’t enough and we finally got the full amount back, but just be aware…

d.  The title of the message at the Sunday church service at East Cape Christian Fellowship is “Jesus is Greater than Abraham.”  The service begins at 9 AM.  Our facility is located 300 yards from the post office/Delegacion on the paved road in Los Barriles.  .Everyone is invited.  Call Paul if you have questions 142-8054
