a. This is a follow-up post regarding the family in LB who lost their home/trailer which seems to have been the cause of an electrical fire: This is a young family with 2 small children, Father works construction for Rochine and Mother is a housekeeper. Family name: Marcos Torres y Margarita Emiliano Marcos lost everything wallet, ID, money. Margarita had her purse…luckily:) Carlos Cota has a small lot that he has reduced in price. With the money raised so far he will accept that as a down payment. He will then accept monthly payments so that the family can start to build a little castita ASAP. As for now the family is staying with a friend. The outpouring from the community is beyond words. The collection of money, clothes, shoes,linens, household items you name it, we brought it!! They will still need some appliances and furniture. Felipe Valdez from Spa- Hotel will donate beds. If you have plastic containers or storage bins they can borrow or have to store their new items in that would be helpful. ANY donations are still being accepted. Drop off at the DIF. Money donations are being accepted as well. If you are in the states and would like to donate money, I will accept payments with my PayPal account and give to the family directly. b. **Dog Walking Club** Come and join our twice-weekly group walking and exercising the Cortez Rescue dogs! Have fun, meet new people and help the doggies! The results over the past few months have been significant and many of our dogs who we were unable to re-home have changed their behaviors, are happier and look healthier. Within the next two weeks we will have an agility course too! Come every Monday or Thursday to the Cortez Rescue Center (behind Dr Gretel’s in Las Cuevas) and join our merry group of dog walkers (and soon to be agility trainers) making a difference in the community. info@cortezrescue.org.
